Reproofing a deerhunter jacket

A light tumble dry not hot will tighten the lining up and stop it leaking my ram dad a seperate lining that delaminated its now a summer stalking coat

Nikwax Wash In, it doesn't need heat to activate it.
Run the washer first on a hot wash with nothing in to get rid of any detergent residue, also clean out the detergent drawer.
Then wash the coat, don't put any detergent in, use quarter of a bar of ordinary soap grated up, put a capful of Wash In into the conditioner space in the detergent tray of the washer so this will go in during the rinse cycle.
When it has been washed don't take it out but put the recommended amount of Nikwax into the detergent drawer and put it through another wash cycle.
Spin and dry as normal then when it is dry make up a spray bottle with a 10/1 solution of water and Nikwax hang it up with a cane through both sleeves and spray the jacket with with solution taking care to make sure that the seams and shoulder areas get a good covering.
Alternatively you could spray it with Fabsil but I understand that the solvent in it can damage taped seams.

i bought a lightweight green norwegian anorak from a charity shop for £4.99 and washed it in a bucket with thompsons water seal i had left over it did the job water justs pours off bs

Jackets washed today, and nearly dry so they'll be on the line again tomorrow. I'll spray them up with Diver Dave's finest and we'll see how we go.

I was out all day, and it failed. Soaking wet.
It probably didn't fail, it wetted out which is when the outside material bonded to the membrane become sodden.and the membrane then can't breath as its essentially blocked.

That or if the membrane is dirty it can't breath effectively enough and you end you wet again.

The membrane then can't breath, what is making you actually wet is your sweat condensation on the inside!

Used to work with gortex in a mountaineering shop when i was younger so know a good bit about it.

Reproof wise id use nickwax green, then purple. Once it's on and if your garment allows it, tumble dry it and it activates the DWP layer you have just washed onto the material.

Granger stuff is also good.

forget it if it’s started letting in wet it’s knackered.
The wash in spray on stuff is only a temporary fix
Time too buy a new coat.

Hope you didn't wash them with normal detergent?
Standard detergents tend to leave a Hydrophilic (water loving) residue which means that the fabric can absorb water easier.
