Do PM’s disappear when a member leaves a removed/closes their account?

As above, do old PM’s automatically delete when someone gets thrown out of th nED or closes their account?

PMs go from the account that asks for it to be closed, but not normally from the other accounts that have received the PMs. Their name is changed to User0000X though.
