Ineos Grenadier reviews

Just done my first 270 miles 5 hours total driving mix of highway and winding roads . My experience has been very different. Really enjoyed the driving position . Only thing i need to do is adjust my driving style to the steering , sharp turns are not your friend . Otherwise no other complains . Quite enjoyed the shelf on the door for my elbow . Keeping always in mind that its not meant to be a sedan or an suv in my opinion its epic . Your milage might vary based on your degree of masochism and madness .

Have a look on YouTube at Harrys farm and Harrys garage he has posted to very honest videos re on road and off road👍
The back seats don’t even fully fold down flat due to them sticking a battery and relays under there ?? Not that I’m in the market to buy one but really wtf at that price .

Picked up one the other day. Nicely made, but the position of the pedals is poor and there is an uneccesary arm on the door that compromises the driving position. The rear door set up is a bit weird. I'm surprised the fundamentals of the driving position werent sorted earlier in development.
Having spent 50 years in vehicle development the thing that always happens is the LHD is the one that is put down on the drawing board/CAD, afterwards they mirror image the data to make it RHD and then have to adjust the sticky out bits to suit, most styling designers/CAD men drive LHD and so have no feeling for RHD except the Japanese of course where the failures are the opposite way around.

I just traded my A4 Allroad which I have had since 2011. 170,000 miles of 150,000 have been from us. She cost me £20k, and other than normal service and wear items, she hasn’t missed a beat. Being 2.0 TDi Euro 5 diesel she doesn’t qualify for ULEZ in Edinburgh so needed to change.

Traded for a Touerag Mk2 Escape, which I picked up yesterday from York and gave it a good run back to Edinburgh. Euro 6 so fully compliant with lentle muncher requirements. First impressions - well its not a drivers car like a manual A4. But hugely comfortable and very quiet on the road. Sort of wafts along. It’s going to take a while to get used to an auto box and just letting it doing its own thing. As the Escape it’s a little higher than standard so plenty of clearance for tracks and fields, and it has a proper low transfer box with locking diffs. Do I really need those - probably not in the UK as 1st gear is very low. But will be very useful when towing heaving loads especially up steep inclines such as slip ways etc.

And returned 37 mpg on a 200 mile mix of A roads and dual carriageway, and twisty roads up to top of Sutton Bank because it was there.

And I paid a quarter of the cost of a Grenadier.

Whilst I’d agree with you that it’s all almost anyone would need you’re comparing the price of a 5year old or more soft roader to a brand new top of the range expedition vehicle.
But I’m glad you’re pleased with the toe rag!

Surely the Grenadier should be compared with the LC70 or even the LC300, which is what it will be up against in the real (third) world.

I had a look at a grenadier in the local show room and think its probably priced about right for the build.
Its chassis has a 12 yr corrosion warranty I believe. The chassis looks super bling!
The axels were more comparable to a tractor than a 4.5 V8 land cruiser amazon. The underneath of the grenadier made my hilux look like a tonka toy and it looked even better than a Landcruiser amazon.
Over all I thought it looked over engineered and just the right ticket for a farmer towing 3.5 tonnes regularly.

Just looking on Autotrader and there are few coming onto the 2nd hand market at quite a bit below new pricing. Here’s one with 530 miles being offered for £61k.

I suspect that give in a year or two used ones will be pretty affordable, and will also seriously soften prices being paid for old Defenders - and ULEZ in inner cities will mean those wanting them as toys / everyday town cars will buy Grenadier than fully tricked out Landrover.

I'm glad they've gone with proper axles instead of the usual limp wristed independent front suspension. A lift kit and some 35" tyres would look good on one I reckon

Was a passenger in the back of one last week for a short off road trip, seemed cramped in the back and not impressed with the boot space. Seemed well but but horrendously over priced.

I agree, the new Quartermaster variant looks like a good option but I am not in the market at that price, as much as I would like it or an equivalent.

Sat in one the other week at the land rover show , great driving position and great truck but all the plastics let it down inside and out , really poor quality plastics

Nice but such a shame the Jimny back-up doesn’t quite fit!
