Best (PAYG) mobile phone tariffs?

I am currently with Tesco Mobile and have been for more years than I can remember - On PAYG. Currently the pack that I am on if I pay £10 they give me a free £20 bonus. However with my current circumstances I have had to put £40 on my phone in the last 2 weeks to keep in touch with my wife which obviously I do and call her as often as possible to try to keep her feeling positive and happy. This £40 that I have put on over the last fortnight should have given me £80 in free calls. (I can only get the "bonus" on one set date each month) I called Tesco mobile and they told me that the date I would get my "bonus" would be today. OK that's fine I thought but on checking I have only received £40 in bonus calls, just half of what it should have been. I called Tesco mobile and they said that was the limit but under the circumstances it might be better if I changed my package to their "Rocket Package". This would cost me £10 and would give me 5,000 minutes of call time and 5,000 texts, which seems reasonable.
My question is what do you guys thing is the best "provider" to go with on PAYG to get the best value for money please?

I've got a SIM from Talkmobile £4.95 month, unlimited calls, unlimited texts and 3GB data
oand a Smarty SIM for £5 per month, unlimited calls and texts and 4GB data
Both of these are 1 month contracts, renewable every month.

Far better than PAYG if you use the phone regularly but don't need lots of data

I got a great deal with Three years ago through Sim Sherpa which costs £12.50 per month, 4Gb data and free roaming almost worldwide 👍🏻

Once got hammered with data charges when I turned on my phone to turn off roaming in UAE and they gave me a hassle free refund when I explained my error.

Coverage is good throughout most of the UK and Scottish Highlands.

We have sim only contracts with o2 but I keep a 2nd phone on PAYG with GiffGaff, who actually tell you each month (Going off your usage) whether you’d be better with a cheaper tariff.
Giffgaff uses o2 network.

It depends on which Internet service provider you are using but I’d heard that BT will provide a SIM card for your phone and to add it to your monthly bill at a cost of @ £6 per month, but that’s only what I’d heard.

For £10 a month you should get unlimited calls and texts without any bundle gimmicks, just make sure the provider gives a strong signal in your most frequented places.

Which provider gives you the best coverage in the area you intend to use it in. You can go online and check the coverage of say e.e etc and then see if any cheaper deals are piggy backed on their system. BT and ee are one in the same etc the same as plusnet was ee.
Hope that helps

Whatever it costs to keep your wife happy, money well spent. I'm on a BT SIM only contract for the whole family, and it's less than £40/month for unlimited calls/texts and about 20gb of data on each of four Sims.

Another one for Smarty which gives you free EU roaming and 12GB data on roaming with no additional cost. Also it does support WiFi calling if you live in an area with poor reception. They use 'Three' network in the backend.

I've just taken out a sim-only contract with Tesco. It's 12 month not 30 day roll-over but it's only £7.50 a month and I get unlimited calls and texts and 2 gig of data, which is more than enough for me.

This^^^ sim only is good value these days. I pay a little more but still works out about £15 a month with 60 international minutes and unlimited data.
