Which are the Champs?, Just amazed at how I think I got away with it, ... till the third day after exposure to mini jaws, bleeding itching craters just starting to ease now.

Scot’s midge delights in beating up a FEB (Fecking English Barsteward). Nasty things. Like the taste of whisky in your veins (apparently).

Couldn’t comment on Yorkshire midges, other than to say that they’ll no doubt be inferior to the glorious Lancashire midge.

Scots midges definitely.....and then you get to more precise levels of pain and suffering - West Coast midges are far more lethal than the shandy pants East Coast version, all of them are a pain in the neck (and arms and legs and face and.....)

As some may be aware I spend a lot of my outdoor time on the Isle of Lewis, you can't get much more west coast. The midges can be bad but the absolute worse ever battering I had from midges was on Lochan a' Chaorainn just north of Moy maybe 10 miles south of Inverness. In those days the forestry wasn't planted around it. It still makes me ill thinking about it.

The midgies in glen brittle in Skye were like tabby cats with wings. Ours at braemar were bad, but these were in a different league...

You’re kidding surely? There are snakes that got as far away as they could to get away from the highland midge! That’s why there’s so many dangerous snakes in Australia!

Combine Caithness midges with cleggs (horseflies with additional teeth) and deer stalking in anything less than a full NBC suit in July and August is utterly brutal.

Three things that science taught us about the midge.
1 they never fly above six to eight feet
2 They tend not to like yeasty skin
3 They are attracted to exhaled CO2

So one simple solution is to walk on stilts whilst eating marmite sandwiches and holding your breath.

Otherwise, get some Smidge or Lifesystems Midge Spray
