Well that couldn’t be simpler!
Just received my Ugly Annealer and a couple of other items from Derraco UK. I set it up following the instructions, got a Fine Flame torch head and gas from Toolstation and I was ready to roll.
I only have 6.5 Creedmoor so swapped the rotary wheel to the smaller cartridge wheel to keep the flame from hitting the wheel.
I put around 100 3-4 times fired Hornady brass into the dispenser with the appropriate cartridge block, lined up the gas canister on the lowest setting I could to generate the heat and off I went! I settled on about 5.5 seconds which was 44 rpm on the Ugly Annealer. At that point, as the cartridge rolled off the annealer down the ramp it was starting to glow. Checking the cases after they were done showed temperature markings on the brass about 5mm below the necks of the cases which looks ok to me.
Very happy with the annealer so far. Since the fine flame torch doesn’t exactly fit on the torch head bar to keep it in a consistent location and the gas pressure may vary, I think that, per batch, I might need to adjust the speed for that particular setup and gas combination.
Now to full length resize and mandrel the necks and see how they shoot again.
