Watership Down - not for unaccompanied children - honest!

What I've found from rewatching some old films (it's worrying that I class films from 30 years ago as old when I remember seeing them when they were in the cinema😱), both rated 18 and PG is that PGs were often more violent and scary than todays equivalent, but films rated 18 back then are a lot less gory and left more to the imagination than today where brutal violence is the norm.

When I read headlines like this it really makes me want to vomit! I expect many of my childhood cartoons will be next, Walt Disney, Hanna/Barbera et al must be spinning in their graves….

Watership Down given new PG rating with language and violence warnings
Political correctness and the Woke Brigade gone completely mad!
Whatever next - Ban all the children's "fairy tales" because they might contain some sort of "violence" like a big bad wolf attempting to deceive and eat Little red Riding Hood?
Whatever is this lunatic world coming to? I truly despair!:banghead:

Edit: I didn't notice "markj1's" post till after I uploaded this comment"!
p.s. You are a crazed psychotic killer mark, you are a shooter mate! ;)

I think you are correct. Road Runner dropping anvils onto the coyote, the violence inherent in the Tom and Jerry cartoons must have an adult only rating by now.
Google looney tunes- bugs bunny and the 10 little injuns, - they would not make cartoons the same now. Clip is on you tube

Nobody has banned anything, this has nothing to do with being "woke." it has always been up to parents to decide what is appropriate for their children to watch whatever the classification. the BBFC ratings are just guidance.

True, but too many parents these days 'outsource' the education of their children to the school, TV, and Internet...

How many parents theses days actually check what certificate a film is prior to letting there children watch it? I would guess very very few.

We did when our kids were young. Discussed it with other parents of similar age. So I'd say you're wrong.

When I was young my best friends older sister worked at the local cinema and let us in the back door.
