If its a flower bed it needs to be wired off, trees or shrubs aren’t a problem, it bumps them and turns around. How do they cope with things inside the boundary wire? So I have a couple of beds inside the area of lawn. Do they just bump into them and turn or do they need a wire around them?
ExcellentHow good are they at navigating borders/twisty bits of garden,
Depends on the size definition of nooks and crannies. They can find it hard to get into them depending on the geometry (hence Husky guide wire). However if it is a small area and it bounces around in it without being able to find a narrow exit then they will wear the grass out rather than cut it.getting in nooks & crannies?
Work well enough in any garden if there is a big enough exit/entry to each area but if it is a complex shape you want to have some automated method of getting it to the more distant areas on a restart so all the grass gets cut equally frequently.I can see they'd work in modern, small straight gardens.
Big expensive ones use GPS. Normal mortal's ones use a wireNot these days
It’s all GPS

Maybe. I need 3 acres cut. A day a week in summer. Then topping 5 acres every 5 weeks. More reading with GnT in garden time
Clearly what the BSRC need to invest in to address any future withdrawal of labour by the Monday Range Upkeep Team!View attachment 323244View attachment 323245
It even does stripes. Took the guy about 2 hours to set up. All good so far
Ahh. Local farmer puts them in my fields and they do the restSounds like you needed a couple of sheep
If it keeps getting stuck on a particular bump you need to sort it, otherwise not a problem.Do you need to prep the lawn and level/smooth it out before you get the mower? Or will it cope with a bumpy lawn and eventually as it cuts every day it'll grow out and level itself as such?
