Foxpro external power supply

I’d like to substitute the 8 x AA battery holder power supply on my foxpro for a lithium power bank for ease of re-charging, the pack containing 8 AA’s give off 12v so am I right in assuming any 12v power bank will be safe to use, my intention is to solder the appropriate connector for the power bank onto the power lead for the foxpro.

I bought a new caller 3 months ago, it’s been excellent but a week or so ago I took the battery pack out before putting it in the cupboard as usual, when I came to use it I picked up the pack and noticed one of the alkaline batteries had leaked everywhere, not good so a better alternative has to be found 😁

Depending on which Foxpro you have, you can get lithium battery packs for many, alternatively you could try what I do & use a Tracer battery pack. I used to find the AA battery pack didn’t last that long & always had the habit of dying at the most inopportune moment, the Tracer battery pack last has never run out on me & I only normally charge it because I feel sorry for it, plus they have a power indicator.

I’ll give them a call, I’m not sure that will fit the Hammerjack 2, the connection looks different I think.
Thanks buddy.

I fitted a socket and a micro On:On toggle switch to my FX32 so I had the option for an external battery as and when. Bought a couple of 12v batteries plus a charger from Elwire as a reputable supplier of pukka batteries and chargers.

The only thing that I wish I’d done differently was to site the switch somewhere it would be protected from getting accidentally switched…and from damage rolling around in the back of the GrandVit (ie the rubber toggle cover). Just thinking under the handle would be ideal but not a lot of room in there 🤔

I managed to pull one of the leads off the chunkier battery using it for a screen so just had to re-solder and re-shrink wrap it.

The FX32 is my back-up caller and I now use a Firestorm with the black Eneloop Pro’s with a spare pack of the IKEA Ladda’s. The battery holder is a FoxPro item but the one I bought from Bushwear a few months ago came with wires as opposed to the 9v battery connection… they did give me a full refund though.😎

Hmmmm….. the photo of the Foxpro Li-Ion pack in FreshFace’s post above got me thinking. 🤔
The bigger Elwire pack is made up of a stack of 6 flat batteries…. I’m wondering if Elwire would be prepared to put together a 4 stack which I reckon would fit in the battery box?

Just looked on the bushwear website, no wonder they’re discounted at the minute….

Thats poor, anyway I’ve just checked the GoFoxpro website and I don’t believe yours is compatible.

The Tracer battery pack I use is an almost identical set up to Fizz’s, and it sits exactly as he mentions, in a neoprene case which fits neatly in the handle hole.

Great minds think alike 😂

I searched for weeks for a pack that would fit in the existing battery compartment, but drew a blank, I had considered that getting a custom made one, but never followed it through as the Tracers came up on here at a good price.
