Fly fishing Highlands August help pls

I'm looking for a fly fishing experience in August on either 27th, 28th or 29th, near Inverness (staying in Tomatin) preferably for the family (2 adults & 2 13yr olds) but for just me would be okay if there's something to occupy the family in the mean time.

None of us has any fishing experience, so would need all the kit. Ideally on a river for that archetypal experience.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A couple of options for you.
Rothiemurchus Estate near Aviemore do loch fishing (with tackle hire and tuition), but they have a fair old range of activities. It might not be the full Highland River fishing adventure, but there's plenty for the family to do.
If you want to push the boat out, Dani Morey (ladyfisher.co.uk) does tutorials on the Spey (for Salmon mostly), but she may be able to point you in the right direction if you want to stick to trout.
Some of the hotels in the area will be able to give you information on the River Findhorn, but much of the fishing in late August will be for Salmon and Sea Trout, but worth a try.

Thank you @opticron1. I know Rothiemurchus, but as you said, I was looking for a more authentic, less commercialised experience. I'll contact Dani and see if she can point me in the right direction.

Pick a lake or a reservoir.
Your chances of catching a fish should go way up and your chances of having someone get drownded should be proportionately lower.
You’ll also all need a bit of instruction, personally I wouldn’t be too fussy about how the fish got caught, a big worrum on a hook will improve the odds and kids play for results.
The photo op can always be staged.IMG_0430.webp

From this angle it looks like I know what I’m doing…

The smaller next along the road after turning left at RM church have a huge loch and rowing boat and if you rent a cottage on the estate the estate manager I think captain mcgregor at the time we went threw in a week on the river Spey for myself and the brother in law FOC. There are loads of fly fishing within 45 mins drive as well enjoy 👍 worth a check out
