Now then!, Stock has its first oil & had a quick lick with the sealer stuff nice & dry now, (Bit of weatherproofing for this afternoon) sling studs re done, bolt slicked, a long action Sako weaver rail cut down, to provide separate ring mounting points, (Just need to see if shoots OK) ... a cheapo Hawke inch tubed scope dropped on top (The ones that come with ready supplied mounts on), All fixings torqued with the fat stix, .... And along with that "Interesting" crown, some thin metal shims were found between the stock and the action, looks like Tommy the fiddler abouter had thoughts of some sort of bedding effect.
SOooo off to the foxing farm a bit early and bang a target out out 25 / 50 / 75 / 100. Sako 50grain factory for the test.

If you want/need original Sako one piece screw off mounts from the period, I have either 1 inch or 26mm variants in a variety of heights.

Should have been at least 3 in total.
1 below the recoil lug, 2 underneath the floorplate at each end.
It put 3 Sako & 3 Winchester in the splash sticker & 100, so I will now have Ronin put a proper crown on & thread it for a mod 
Sounds like a nice project coming together. Did you do that road trip in the Jimny Steve? What's she like on long road trips?
It's a vehicle that self protects against speeding tickets Keith.
Although they are capable of safely maintaining 80mph without bursting.
Had 1000 small rifle primers & N133 from Aftab, some CFE from Valley, so good to go into production when the cut & thread is completed.

Decided to have it re barreled, heard it's been to proof recently, may be in service for Lambing February.

That barrel, Jesus!
Make sure on re barrel you get a fast twist like 1:8 for copper.
Stopped buying at Holts, they are VERY good a NOT pointing out problems and not showing them on pictures,,and avoiding them on condition reports. Had a bit of a blowout over this with them.
Recently visited a dealer who was having a collection from holts later that day, they said - “you should see the pile of shjite old broken guns we are leaving them!!”,,,, and my fear is, these can make their way into consumers hands without any way of safety inspection. Youngsters and beginners can buy there thinking they are getting a deal.
A friend once picked up a 30-06 from holts, condition report was good, etc. slam fired from the first round chambered, thank god rifle pointed in a safe direction!
I also once bought a rifle from Glasgow angling centre, slam fired all day long as well.
People buying ammo from auctions need to be extra cautious
