John Muir Trust Estate Tax Campaign

More bullsh*t from the haters of the "green" parties.... Sadly these idiots have the ear of the SNP/Green dross currently filling the seats in Holyrood.
The simple response is to sent any mailshots back with a blunt message thanking them for wasting resources on begging letters and never to donate to the JMT, RSPB, SSPCA, RSPCA and any other group that allies itself to the "Climate Assembly".......

Like we need more taxation! These organisations never stop with begging bowls and propaganda.
I remember fairly recently a representative of the Scottish wildlife Trust had darkened my door trying to get the misses to sign up to monthly donation, my wife said il think about it, anyway when returned I was on drive unloading deer and rifles poor guys face was priceless and asked for his leaflet back 😆

Wouldn't it be just better to campaign to reduce the car on emissions made by Glasgow? But if course that would then upset the voters in these Labour and SNP fiefdoms!

Not what a charity should be doing, they are more of a political org than coservation trust (ditto RSPB), was put through the mailbox of a pal...

Interesting opening paragraph when most grouse moors (in particular) and other mixed sporting estates and deer forests that they are trying to attack have been rewetting peatland for a while after it was drained for sheep farming (encouraged by the government of the time) and are actively planting trees and wanting to plant trees in areas which historically didn’t have them (and in deep peat).

They would have you believe that at one time the whole of Scotland was one large ‘Caledonia Pine Forest’ or some such pish which is a complete lie and has been scientifically proven (and swept under the carpet).

They are a bunch of hypocritical tax dodging businesses who are making a lot of money off it which is the real driver.

Not sure as a registered charity they should be allowed or involved in politics?
Neither should the RSPB but they are…. And Police enquiries along with their own illegal surveillance activities which are conducted during their ‘investigations’ - they should change their name anyway bearing in mind the king is an avid game shooter particularly grouse which they seem to spend most of their time attacking.

The whole lot of them need looking at and taxed appropriately.

"A Carbon Emissions Land Tax would be applied to the 750 largest estates in Scotland over 1000 Hectares"
That's only around 2400 Acres, not a large estate never mind the largest??
What the chuff are they on about???

The ‘sporting tax’ legislation doesn’t work so they’re trying another angle safe in the knowledge that their mates in the SNP/Green coalition will do anything they can to curtail the shooting industry with the bonus they can also raise money and tax people with land they want to sell cheap to multinationals for carbon credits all while appealing to their core support who tend to neither live in the country and be on the lower economic scale or unemployed.

It should be illegal to sell ‘carbon credits’ and taxes should be levied on landowners who challenge food security by planting trees or rewilding any agricultural land - you would have thought, if nothing else, the war in Ukraine shows the importance of that.

It stinks.
I reckon a lot of the larger estates have some parcels of land that rise from sea level to 3000' with slopes of 30° and topped with peat hag, where the hell are they going to plant trees other than in the fertile Glen bottoms where they have good grazing and Hay/Sileage pasture?
More pie in the sky nonsense from folk who should stick to what they know, which, in many is cases, is close to Bggr all.
And a further venting of my frustration, these Green/Socialist minded numpties think that just because someone has a large house and lots of land that they have plenty of money.
In many cases they couldn't be much further from the truth, they can be land rich, not that the land is rich, it's can crap and good for very little that they can do with it, but also cash poor, not much income and hit by Death Duties every time someone dies.
How the Hell are they going to pay an Estate Tax?
The SNP have already mooted the idea of a Mugabwe style land grab so that if part of the estate has to be sold off to pay Death Duties than a tenant should be offered the chance to buy it at a knock down price.
Why these well educated half wits are allowed to spout ill informed carp is way beyond my ken.
