Ford Fiesta keyless entry?

I had a yellow Cortina Mk4, one fine morning after a night duty I walked out, chatted briefly with a colleague while opening and starting “my” car. First alert was that it didn’t smell right, secondly it didn’t sound right, thirdly it definitely wasn’t my car.
My key opened it and started it no problem, so presumably the other guys key would have opened mine too.

Amazing invention these are. Our Polo also has fitness machines on the rear doors where you wind a handle and get fresh air.

My first car had a leg exerciser, but only the left leg. It was a dual purpose device as it also squirted the windscreen washer.

There is a big untapped market for simple cars without all the tech . Took a lovely drive out to collect some kit my leatherworker finished yesterday in an old Jag . The only downside was the radio only gets smooth FM and only plays CDs

I had a 1980 Fiesta 950 for my first car, you could just about open that with a lollipop stick.
It turned out that prior to moving to Chubb locks, Ford only had 12 different key patterns across their entire range, so collect the set and take your pick of cars.
That Fiesta was stolen twice, the second time it was left burnt out.

I used to pop the HT lead off the ignition coil.

I made a simple immobiliser switch hidden in the boot, it worked rather too well as first time out I’d forgotten about it and spent half an hour flooding the engine.

I wired a hidden fuel pump switch into my car, it'll only get a few hundred yrds down the road before it conks out.

In the ideal world you could remove the gear stick or the steering wheel, did that once to the bosses marina van, he was not happy at all!
A spike operated via a solenoid under the driver's seat would be poetic!

Many years ago in the bad old days in Belfast “Joyriding” was of plague dimensions and a lot of car owners working in downtown Belfast did indeed remove their steering wheels but in no time flat the little rascals started carrying mole grips which replaced the missing steering apparatus.

I had a Transit box van at work in the late ‘80’s. You could open every other BT van with the key. Hardly worth locking them.

My friends first car aged 18 mk 3 Cortina ,got out key in hand .
I got in and started it with a padlock key ,he wasn't impressed

Is the keyless fob close to a mobile phone? Mine blocks my keyless.
