How could you not like the HMR

Good call sir - prepare to be amazed! Just make sure to check your cases especially Hornady Vmax before you go out - there are still a few problem cases about - I had three in fifty last week.
What have you bought?

I'm a former hmr owner returning to the fold, the hummer was my very first rimfire, back in 2011, when my fac variation for it, was processed and returned to me in under 10 days
I thankfully seemed to miss that period of bad ammunition, plenty of split cases on firing, but no squibs, out of around 1200ish rounds. I'll certainly be keeping an eye on case more closely now.
I've went for something a little less "agricultural" :stir: than my usual fayre, a Weihrauch HW66. Time will tell if straying away from CZ was a good idea.

Nice choice - those poor rabbits/crows/foxes….

I had one in 222, it was rubbish!
The muzzle was crimped. Had to cut 1/2" off it! And the firing pin was made of cheese and was a simple stamping of steel sheet.
The double set trigger was to far away, unless you had fingers 6" long.
They should stick to airguns!

I'm sure mine was a basket case.

Regrettably I'm going to have to leave this thread, regrettably because it's the most upbeat positive chit chat on SD.

I'm now out of decent 17HMR ammo, I'm on a temporary FAC, the 17HMR I've got left is non toxic and that groups like a scattergun through my RPR so the C50 is being swapped over to my WSM.

I'll start a new thread "What's not to like about the 17WSM". (Naysayers not welcome because I've got plenty of laser-sharp 20gr).

Sorry about your misfortunes. i've just acquired a Tikka Tx1 in 17HMR after reading this thread.
Regards ammo. If you can get hold of Remington 17gr Accupoint I can vouch for it. I bought 50 of those and 50 Winchester 20gr HP (that's all that was available in the shop) to try out.
The Remingtons I checked all 50 before firing and all were good. The brass appeared much smoother and not granular like the Winchester. I've fired 25 of the Remys and had no split necks and at 50m it grouped sub 1/2". The last and best group being 1/4" centre to centre, 4 in one hole and 1 a gnats todger high.
The Winchester was a disappointment. 5 split necks and 6 badly deformed cases in the box. Of the 15 "good" ones I fired 3 necks split and at 50m the group was 1 1/2 inch 😞.
I promptly went to the shop and bought 150 of the same Lot No Remingtons. Being a sad person I used a magnifying glass and went through 100 of them and checked them for damage. There was none, all were perfect. I didn't bother checking the last 50.
So a big cheer for Mr Remington.

Don't be daft, all wsm rimfires are welcome here.

I've only ever had problems with Winchester ammo splitting cases. Had the problem years ago, still have the problem now. I've given up buying it and gone back to Hornady as I had problems getting hold of Remington.

Part of me wants to swap the HMR for a .17 centrefire, but it's the first rifle I bought and I'm pretty fond of it - we've accounted for a lot of rabbits together!
