Hello,
I live in the Scottish highlands, near Loch Ness and am surrounded by deer. When I built my house I had to deer fence the plot to keep them out there is that many. I have stalked but don’t own any guns, One day soon I would like too!
I have 2 German short haired pointers (black and white ) and hope to breed them soon.
I love everything outdoors and when I’m not away at work I’m out , up the hills with my dogs.
For me the enjoyment of deer comes from eating it, I love to butcher my own meat, and am proud to say 90% of the meat I eat doesn’t see a shop.
Hope this is ok for an introduction.

Oh and I have a wee self catering apartment with a hot tub should anyone want accommodation at a fair price near the big Loch 😂

Welcome..shame you don't own the land around you. I'd come up and shoot, you get to butcher and a meal and I get to stalk in a beautiful area!
 
To own a Section 1 firearm you need good reason. If you don't own land with deer on it, talk to your neighbours or farmers you know in the area and see if they need deer managed. Enrol in a DSC1 course, it will give you the vital foundation you need to cull deer effectively and humanely. It will also strenghten your application for a firearms certificate. See if there is a stalker nearby and ask them if you can join them for some stalks. Keep a record of your stalks, again it bolsters your portfolio for a firearms licence. Visit local gun shops and try out rifles for fit, ask the owners about stalking opportunities, mentors in your area. Avoid rabbit holes, most centrefire deer legal rifles are more than adequate for stalking. Spend more on your optics, you can't shoot what you can't see. Premium brands are excellent, but there are decent and workable alternatives. Remember ethics, deer are god's creatures; they deserve respect. If you kill one of these glorious animals, do so humanely. Use the carcass with the respect it deserves. Good luck and welcome to the Stalking Directory. Interesting intro, I frequently travel through Inverness on my way to stalk a bit further north, I have a KC registered gwp male puppy, 7 months old, so if you need a stud dog in the future.
 
Thanks…..I have a cracking big male thanks, he has to be near 50kg of muscle. A real one off…how do I share pictures…cracking German lines and I have a little female from Italy also cracking lines , hopefully we will make puppies soon if the wife agrees, I’m doing it just to continue his lines as he is a truly magnificent specimen…everyone we meet with pointers say they haven’t see one that size ..
 
So I hear, I heard they can be pretty aggressive?? Amazed by the difference in bitch and male , how one wants to plead and the other is just so headstrong

Have had several over the years.
I would have another but the four spaniels we currently have is plenty!
