Special Occasion Steak Knives

A pair of steak knives finished just before Christmas and now presented and with their owners.

I say presented as they were commissioned as a wedding gift and the special occasion has now been and gone.

Both Sheffield made SF100 blade steel, and both get exquisite Sambar scales secured by stainless fixings.

Hand made leather presentation pouch which features the details of the happy day, names and dates etc, the knives also get the names of the now newlyweds engraved to the reverse of their blades.

Another small personal touch (although hard to differentiate in the photos) is that the knives have different coloured liners beneath the scales, the colours of each representing the favourite colours of the couple.

My thanks to Stu for pulling out all of the stops and making this delightful pair of knives at short notice for me.

I can attest to the superb quality and build. F&F is superb, and the Happy Couple are delighted.

Steve.

Many thanks everyone for all your comments, there are some very kind words in this thread and appreciate them all, thank you.

Yes, it was a lovely project to be involved in and I am delighted with the end result, it can aways be a bit touch and go with antler, the bark can be tricky to get just how you envisage it, aesthetics and feel etc, these worked out perfectly in my opinion though, very happy.

Cost wise, I would struggle to replicate these in the Sambar now, purely because my stocks are that low and I have no idea where the next suitable might come from. But, I make a few steak knives/sets and use various materials for the handles, the last set I made had handles of Bog Oak, 7000 years old and excavated from the silt floor of the fenland basin.

Similar/same as these.

This was a nice set, ten knives with ten species of timber for the handles.

Similar but different, 12 different colours of G10.

Single steak knives start at around £150 each, leatherwork and engravings etc will add to that.

Again, cheers all 😊

Thank you, once again, Stu. I did have my fingers crossed when I asked for Sambar scales.

No problem mate, it was my pleasure.

I have had those two sections for years, along with a few others sat on a shelf and tucked away waiting for that special and particular project to use them on, I could very easily I imagine talk myself into thinking no project was the project as they are almost irreplaceable but then what though, they might never get used and that would be plain wrong.

I am happy thinking that this project is the project, in fact I know it is, an old mate in need of a special gift, a wedding and steak, Spielberg will make a film about this one day 😂

I'm thinking that Henry Cavill might play me?!
