It bends alright, in a vice with some 24" Stillsons on it and a fair bit of weight behind them... 😂

Showing for no other reason other than the fact that it never ceases to amaze me.

The blank you see there is one of my P120 blanks at 3mm thick, Rc60/62, the blank held there for about 20 seconds whilst I faff around getting the camera for the photo.

Then this, returns to perfectly straight, I am always impressed.

That's amazing. I would have put money on it snapping, or not straightening again. That's what I think is perfect knife steel, but what do I know? My metal work skills reached the dizzy heights of making a poker at school 🤣

That is just amazing. Bordering on alchemy.

Some time back I watched the test they do to workpieces submitted by those wanting to be inducted as Master Knifesmith in the USA. A bend test like this is in the mix. I will see if I can find a sample video. The fails are spectacular...

I used to do a lot of work for WS before they were bought out and closed down overnight.

I have seen that machine in action. In fact, I think a fella that I know might have bought it and still has it.

That's very interesting and probably rather valuable, I have a modest collection of swords and bayonets, among them is a lovely Wilkinson 1897 pattern sword made in 1905, it bears the hexagonal slug for best quality. It had an interesting provenance too. Bought by a decorated Danish chap serving as an officer in the British Army. He was seconded to the newly formed MI5 just prior to WW1. He saw action in France and Belgium.
