Looking for a slim, lightweight and over barrel moderator a lightweight stalking rifle, does anyone have any suggestions? So many makes and models out there!!
consider shortening the barrel , the balance is far more important than titanium or steel etc . You can always go to a little faster burning powder and some cartridges are very happy with a much shorter barrel as std think .223 verses say 7mm rem mag .
I took a fair old lop off a 223 rem , my RFD was doubtful but i did it anyhow and same loads there was no difference . Weight saving but most importantly not as tippy at the muzzle
Freyr and devik- i have 2 x fw196 for 30-06 and 7mmRM. I'd call them semi over-barrel. Best compromise for weight, size, effectiveness imo. I'm looking just to take the sting out and not have ringing ears after 1-2 shots - dont like a big mod.
Will upgrade to one of the 3d ultimates sooner or later.
Would recommend DPT then anything else , even maybe try a bit of tinfoil, a loo roll painted black or shooting through a pillow and then if your still stuck maybe a Lawrence precision. ( my opinion only)

Lawerence precision. Its pretty light, over barrel. One of the quietest I have ever heard, maybe even the quietest.
Some short moderator's are not very quiet at all.
Thought I would get your collective thoughts on this. Obviously this is my side of the story but would appreciate your expertise. I already have discussed this with a few gunsmiths and they have given their views. Story- custom 6.5prc, carbon barrel, custom action, PSE stock- no expense...

Not a Lawrence precision. Those of you who have one, glad it works. I won’t even put the replacement forced upon me near my rifle.
this is how it shoots with a spare hardy gen4 6.5mm so doubt it is due to poor rifle manufacturing.
