Tikka T3x Tac A1 End of Barrel Moderators?

As per title, looking for a decent end of barrel (not reflex over barrel) moderator.. Struggling to find many threaded in 5/8” x 24 UNEF.

I’ve a nice Ase Utra CQB on my .204, and although too small and threaded in 18x1, I can’t find anything other than really expensive Wildcat options in .223 and 5/8 x 24. As it’s a target rifle only, running the muzzle brake may be my only affordable option?

Hope to hear what you guys have..

Thanks Scotch Egg,

I’d looked all over as the ASE web-site doesn’t list it, leading me to believe there are now discontinued.. However, I contacted Jackson‘s and the nice lady told me they are very much still a supplied item and have stock coming in next week..

Apparently, they’ve asked ASE Utra to continue to show this product on their web-site… That would have saved me a couple of evenings web-surfing, looking for something that isn’t shown as available on-line.

For anyone else, they have the threaded portion in 5/8” x 24 in stock, just awaiting the moderators themselves.

Thanks for the heads up, as I wouldn’t have called them asking for something that isn’t listed anymore by the manufacturer. Much happier with an end mod over a reflex. Weight isn’t an issue.. Still, not cheap and another expense..

Just curious…why end of barrel and not over barrel?
I’ve three Tikka’s, the new Tac A1, and two supervarmints, both with heavy stainless steel barrels and both 18x1 threaded. I’ve an ASE North NS-25 on the .223 which is an over barrel and rather bulky in size. Interestingly, i’ve just checked the moderator on my .204 and it’s an ASE Jet-Z CQBS in .223 calibre (it was transferred to my certificate when my shooting partner passed away 10 years ago). I actually thought it was a CQB. I much prefer this as a mod, both in installation on the barrel and it’s size. With my ear plugs in I probably can’t tell the difference.. I think I’d be okay and happier with a longer CQB..

I’m now wondering whether I could order a .204 CQB with the 5/18 x 24 adapter loose and then swap over the adapters myself? That way I’ll have two calibre specific mods. I’m not sure how easy it is to change them over yourself? Also my cert is for a .223 moderator🤔.. Either that, or I’ll just have two .223 mods and no calibre specific mod for my .204.

I know why I thought it was a CQB, and that’s because it is the same size, it’s size and profile definitely doesn’t look like a CQBS as engraved on the side of it, and looking at one web-site that shows all three, it isn’t as stubby as the CQBS comparisons on their website.. Also doesn’t appear to be a .204 calibre specific, only .223 which will explain why my friend Don had it on his Tikka T3 supervarmint in .204.. So no need to be messing around with swapping adapters and issues with the acquisition and notification..

You could buy a hausken barrel nut in 5/8x24 and screw it onto your tac a1 .
The outside thread on the hausken nuts are all m18x1 so you could then screw your existing mod onto it.

Thanks. Certainly an option.. I see Bushwear are out of stock… That will give me the option of both my .223 mods..

I have put in an order for one of these… a cheaper option given I’ve 2 .223 moderators already albeit m18x1 thread. I may even just shoot with the supplied muzzle brake as many others do down at the range…

They work well. I've used them in dpt and jet z mods to convert from M18X1 to 5/8X24 unef.

Don’t forget , all the muzzle brakes that ship with the Tac A1 are bored for 338 LM Less effective than one bored for you bore.

Any info to back up this claim?
Extensive testing with Bruce Potts using state of the art Sound meter, also the fact that the US suppressor manufacturers who are leading the field in silencer manufacturing almost exclusively build only front mounted suppressors.
