Too little clearance? New scope mounted.

Evening all,

I know scope height has been covered before but this is a question specifically for the clearance I have here.

This scope is on my 45-70.

Just mounted it this evening with a set of mounts that give me clearance above the ghost ring and a good cheek weld.

There is very little clearance on the rail.

Do you think this will be ok given the 45-70 has a short, heavy barrel (may not flex too much) and the obj lens is still over the picatinny rail?

Thanks

So whats the problem, I shot a lightweight 30-06 for years with 5 thou clearence between the barrel and the scope

No problem.

I had looked at a few articles and what not that mentioned that some resonance and flex in the barrel may cause issue, as I had no way of questioning what was written there, I thought I would ask here for feedback.

Also, how did you even measure that as it's like 0.12mm (a human hair), just curious?

Only be a problem if you want to fit a front end add on Thermal/NV and looking at the calibre that seems unlikely

As takbok says " clearance is clearance ". I think the closer the better, as the line of sight is as close as it can be to the centre of the barrel. This helps with bullet drop, and accuracy. Well done.

Bullet drop and the 45-70 are very good friends, haha.
