Nothing a small pry bar can't fix mateEvening all,
I know scope height has been covered before but this is a question specifically for the clearance I have here.
This scope is on my 45-70.
Just mounted it this evening with a set of mounts that give me clearance above the ghost ring and a good cheek weld.
There is very little clearance on the rail.
Do you think this will be ok given the 45-70 has a short, heavy barrel (may not flex too much) and the obj lens is still over the picatinny rail?
Thanks

Sweet. Just a pity you used the wrong rings & mounts!

You are welcome buddy but I don't have much game shooting. Years ago I had plenty of rabbits to hunt but they've goneI'll let you have a rip on it for a trade in BP shooting.....with the scope on it.
Although, I have kept the ghost ring sights on it and mounted it with quick release mounts just in case.
Shoot it - see if there are witness marks on the scope bell
Scopes flex during the firing cycle - some more than others (calibre and recoil) has huge effect flexible materials

Better still jam a Butler Creek flip-up lens cover in the gap. That will dampen any unpleasant resonances and you’ll never loose it!Will do, thanks for the tip.

What is the actual mm clearance here?
Having the same decision!
