Thinking of reloading,

So, all my mistakes aside and waiting on the bullet puller,
iv now 5 round in each of the 4 weight differences with both the hornady and sierra bullets ready to go, weather is looking of to get them tested tomorrow,
im confident iv made no mistakes this time so if i haven't blown myself up, tomorrow night i will get on working up some more loads with the N-133 and test them sunday,
iv speeded up a good bit after realising i was being a clown and when resizing y brass i was setting it back to zero every time then re adjusting for each case rather than realising they if it was set at 1.750 then it would do them all the same, i was doing the same thing whilst seating the bullet, turning it a good turn before seating the bullet then working it down to 2.250 instead of again not realising if the case was the same then the seating depth would be the same, iv also converted my callipers to mm rather than inches as i can understand the difference of half a mm or so, not so much 1/10.000 of an inch,

A caliper will never measure to 1/10.000 of an inch, they will just about cope with 1/1,000ths of an inch.

A teaspoon of citric powder six drops of fairy liquid and half a cup of tap water is what I use to do 50 cases.

so, today was the day, and once again the mother of all F&^% ups, got my gear together, went to the farm, got all set up only to find the ammo case i got with the reloading kit i bought had rather a tall lid on it so when i opened the box they were all over the place, no idea what weights were where, so it was a none starter, thought id chamber a few make sure they went in my mag ok and check for bolt stiffness, only to find not one or the 40 id made up had primers in them FFS id got them all to the point where they needed primers, powder and the bullets seated, only when id gone back in the garage that evening iv obviously just forgotten they needed primers, my bullet puller came this morning so pulled them all apart and started again, all 40 now ready to go again tomorrow, all in one of the RS-50 boxes i already have for my factory loads, anymore cockups and i will be calling it a draw

Don't quit over a mistake like that. This is exactly why I prime before even thinking of getting powder and scale set up, seater die too. That can wait until after I finish priming. How to prevent mixed loads while testing is easy, use a separate container labeled correctly. While this must be annoying no harm to you, or your rifle took place.

I once forgot to put primers in 2 cases and I had powder in the bottom of the reloading block and was scratching my head why only to see a primerless case!! we've all done it at some point, chalk it up to experience.

One thing to be sure of just incase it hasn't been mentioned before.....

Use a torch to check each case has powder, same levels, prior to seating a bullet or you may have a REAL bad day on the range

Don't quit over a mistake like that. This is exactly why I prime before even thinking of getting powder and scale set up, seater die too. That can wait until after I finish priming. How to prevent mixed loads while testing is easy, use a separate container labeled correctly. While this must be annoying no harm to you, or your rifle took place.

i had written a check list out to follow to avoid mistakes like this, but forgot to put it where i could see it no foul no harm i guess,

You personally need a checklist. A printed one, that you tick off as you progress each reloading session.

My work involves training people for hazardous activities. Checklists save a lot of time and lives.

everything on my bench is a bit all over the shop at the moment with me just starting out, iv stuff in the way of stuff, i wouldnt mind but my work bench is about 4 meters long,
tomorrow im sorting it all out, putting things where i need them 2 separate stations and i will be putting my white board up with a check list on and as you suggest, ticking them off every time i reload

Or just an index no like 1. I used to write inside the box lid but now pack out the space with a chunk of paper with the loads written on!
Always opening the box so the hinge/lid is on the same side. That means starting either at the top or the bottom but be consistent and that usually means left to right top to bottom!

Because he would have to clean it off, which the tumbler/vibratory cleaner/ultrasound may or may not do very well.
