Best IR torch for the new Hikmicro Alpex 4K

Probably been asked a hundred times but my question might be slightly different as I’m referring to a 940 Nm torch… So which brand and model do you guys like best? I would mostly use it on wild boar up to max 150 meters. Thanks in advance for your advice.

I've recently bought a Sniper Hog 66,both red pill ar ir. It has a ridiculous range, around the £150 so not cheap but definitely worth looking into.
There's a good test and review on Youtube rating the power.

The Alpex 4k is no lightweight of a scope so don't make it worse with a big heavy IR
The Blade is 100% the IR to use with the Alpex 4k
IMHOI, nothing else is even worth considering

They're big and heavy, still use LEDs instead of vcsels and use a lens system that even DIY NV builders gave up on 7 or 8 years ago
They are the dinosaurs of IR illuminators

Save yourself £100 and get one of these
Most of the running gear appears to be the same as many of the expensive IR torches apart from the lens but they work really well.
I've got 3 which I bought from AliExpress for less than that and added Yukon Lenses to two of them.
The NV illuminator market seems very expensive given the cost of the basic parts, I've seen retailers selling upgrade rotary dimmer switches for the previous version of these torches for close to £40 plus postage for a part which can be bought from UniqueFire for £12-13.

Hi there,

You just need a picatinny rail on the scope:

And then mount the BLADE with a cheap low QR 1" or 30mm mount. The BLADE doesn't really need an adjustable mount. It is manufactured very precisely so the beam is concentric to the body. If needed you can shim the rings with thin bits of aluminium tape to get the IR beam exactly where you want it in the field of view.

Done this way you can mount the BLADE at 45 degrees and tuck it in between the turrets on the scope.

Nah, just a 2 quid jobbie works fine, as Clive said just shim it to get it spot on.

Test properly yourself, it's the only way..

Can I also send a torch out to a group member, then just pass it around to other members after a week of use, then you can check yourselves first hand...

I've had one of these for years and also have the 50mm head to interchange with the 66 and they do throw a long way and produce a really good beam pattern and image but, the 66mm is a bit of a lump so it gets used less these days.
With the 50mm head it beats what used to be considered the best affordable IR and white light torches, the NM800, hands down.
