Update on yesterday…Up at 6; en route to bathroom stepped over old Skye who of course left us a few weeks ago - confirmed this when I left the bathroom and she wasn’t lying nose-to the bathroom door and the utter silence rather than the usual thump, thump of her wagging tail hitting the lounge door. Long sigh and fond smile ensued…..
Got all the gear together for the range - yet to be loaded into the car. Took apart 6 of Lady FB’s overwintered favourite solar spotlights (yes - I know) - now giving each a boost on MY shooting batteries charger; simply must be tested before I escape…
3 rifles to check zero on - 2x.308 and a bonus fiddle with the Pard 008P on the sainted triple deuce - decided to use three of the five zeros for 100; 200 and 300 yards - no I don’t know why either - I will never remember which is which or even how to toggle between each….
Anyhoo having read the latest posts on this thread and the busy lives I realise that retirement really is the way to go - though hopefully not for a few years yet - if you get my drift!
.222 Remmy and Pard zeroed effortlessly - now have zeroes at 100, 200 and 300 - not that I will ever use them; Remmy .308 was dead on 1inch high at 100 and smacking the 6inch plates effortlessly just slightly low at 240 so that will do nicely - some difference in sound and picture between the .22 and .308!
The CZ .308 in new to me stock from an SD member not so good - totally forgot (moi?) that mounts were independently adjusted so couldn’t get enough horizontal adjustment as I ran out of clicks - shocker! Did the sensible thing (after much swearing) and set it aside and underwent some much needed .222 therapy before returning to CZ. Immediately remembered (aye right!) said mounts are adjustable - centred scope reticle by clicks count and a simple 3/4 turn on the rear claw and bingo!
Life is good…..

Took their own food too saved a fortune.
My friends now wife was a nanny in Hammersmith said within 2 miles of tourist ville you are ripped off sideways.
All aimed at Japanese/Chinese and American tourists that are willing to pay stupidly.

Dread to think what that'd be elsewhere here.Next time you go take a cool box and eat in your room and a drink perhaps

Kids health comes first ,hope your lad went ok.
But repeat hospital visits will empty your bank account in that place.
After 3 weeks in our local hospital here in the Midlands I'm not singing there praises either.
Parking extortionate, food and drink from the shop/ cafe ridiculous.
And travel for my wife/ mum absolute nightmare. Atb

Whilst polishing a short section of handrail, I spent a little while at work today watching a rather majestic Gannet searching below me for supper. Unfortunately by the time I'd faffed about with the camera, he'd buggered off.

That’s the riser platform, the oil & gas export pipelines and the import lines from neighbouring platforms all come up from the seabed to it. The module sat on top is gas compression for sending the gas onshore down the main North Sea gas pipeline.
It’s connected to the main platform by the bridge that you can see, all of the process facility, utilities and accommodation module are on the platform from where I took the photo, which is many times the size of the riser platform.
The incredible thing about it is that this platform is now 50 years old and still pumping oil and gas out of the reservoir, it makes the brain go numb just thinking how much of the stuff must have been down there to start with.

I was bored today so joined the farmer on our quads to search the whole moor for a few missing ewes that weren’t gathered in at scanning time……found them right down by the roadside at the far side of the moor!!

Had to repair a pecker once, kept coming loose on the bolts. They had only used 8.8 bolts.
I got some 10.9's and made dual bolt 10mm plate washers. Torqued it all up and welded tabs to the plates so the bolts could not be turned without tab removal first.
Never came back again!
Peckers take some punishment and give machine a bit of abuse too, sounds like you did a canny repair though.
