Long weekend in Europe - tourist not sporting !

I really recommend the north of Spain: the city of Gijón in the coast of Asturias or a short trip around Cantabria. Excellent food, cheap prices, calm atmosphere and astonishing landscapes. Especially in Cantabria, in the hamlets and small villages located in the mountains surrounding the Saja river, they serve a lot of game in the restaurants.

Rome
Oslo
Copenhagen
Stockholm
Vienna

Rome, Oslo and Copenhagen are expensive but Stockholm should be cheaper right now as the Swedish kr has gone down. Vienna is beautiful and not as expensive as many other places we've been

Salzburg is wonderful place to visit

Could start here, then rent a car and tour Salzkammergut region - Bad Ischl, Hallstatt etc. Very nice.

The gondola up the Katrinberg in Bad Ischl is great, and so is the salt mine tour in Hallstatt.

If you don't want to rent a car, I'm pretty sure there are buses from Salzburg.

Thank you! I’ve booked flights to Santander and a car for a few days, just booking hotels in various spots now..

Thanks to everyone that has posted replies, some great ideas for another time 👍

Brilliant!!!
Please, if you have the chance, visit Santillana del Mar and the Romanesque collegiate church and Bárcena Mayor village in the Cantabrian mountains. You need to try the "cocido montañés" bean stew as well!

I was in Kreuzberg, Berlin, last year. What a sh*t hole. Litter and scrap dumped everywhere.
Kreuzberg was always that and more - I was based in Berlin when the wall was up and Kreuzberg was the district of migrants and unrest. If there was going to be a riot/demo over something it would kick off there 1st. Charlottenburg or some of the old American sectors are the nicest. Holds very special memories does Berlin.

We did go to others areas after that, my GF loves Berlin and has been many times, but I wasn't a fan as a whole.

Seville
Go real bullfighting , Death Gore Ballet Art cocktail !
Great bars , sherry etc.

I've been a few times and it's always been nice, good weather even in November. In the sun, all the building have a nice ochre hue to them.

Every tapas bar, restaurant and tavern was bustling from Weds to Sat.

Charlottenburg is still recalled fondly by my mates who served there.

I always enjoyed Mallorca there's some lovely Air BnB's in the mountains and non tourist parts of the island that a beautiful and quiet. Foods always excellent. The only downside is you do have to suffer the scroats on the flights out but as soon as you head in the opposite direction its all good.

For me I want a place where there are few tourists, I want to see that country their food and customs..... the worst advert for anywhere is saying its a 'popular tourist destination', or that you can get a full English or UK beer!
for that reason we tend to travel out of season, try not to go package but sort stuff out ourselves or tour on motorbikes with nowt booked.

some nice places we have been inc Porto, Dinant & lower ardennes, the Eiffel region in Germany (inc Monschau Christmas market in the snow), northern Holland, lower slopes of the Pyrenees massif central in France around the Clemont Ferrand area. All had good things going for them, especially the lack of Brits :)

In regards to Germany, it really has gone downhill since the days I went there on school exchanges or was stationed in the rat catcher town
