Garmin Xero and ShotView Usage

Without wishing to go into anything to do with buying or importing the unit, I thought it might be interesting for owners of the Xero C1 Pro to be able to discuss issues or questions. I'll start.

First off, I really like the unit and actually find the associated ShotView app to be more or less sufficient. There are many clamouring for more features in the app, but I feel that misses the point. We want to be shooting; analysis can come later (IMO).

That said, I would like to see a simple way to mark different strings within a session. Not all shots in a session use the same load, so the summary stats can be meaningless. Starting a new session for each string feels a bit heavyweight and clunky. I have raised this as feedback to Garmin.

Secondly, I can't get the "cloud sync" feature to work at all. It just errors all the time. I would like to use this to get data from my phone to a tablet that also has ShotView on it. The export feature is no good for this as there is no import to read it into the other device.

Have you owners managed to use the cloud sync successfully?

It's so light, it's amazing technology for the size.

Several attempts before it connected to my phone.

Can't get the Cloud to work as yet.

It's boring never misses a shot!!

I raised a support issue with Garmin about the cloud sync. A bit of toing and froing with customer support to establish that I am not an idiot. Turns out I'm not (who knew) and they have passed the issue to product support. Time will tell if I actually hear anything back from them.

I suspect the issue might be related to the fact the product is not yet supported in the UK, although they did not mention that.

There's a bunch of stuff that's broken with the app, but that will probably get fixed over time. As far as I can see, the actual unit operates faultlessly.

I haven't tried putting ShotView onto the iPad yet, but my phone does the Cloud Sync without displaying any errors, so I assume its working! (iPhone in case it makes a difference vs Android version...)

Are you in the UK?

Interesting that cloud sync works on iOS. I'm on Android and it's definitely not working at all.

Checked on the iPad and the cloud sync does work on iOS as it downloaded all the data as soon as I logged in. Sadly the iPad app isn’t an actual iPad app, just the phone one on a bigger screen. Hopefully they’ll do a proper iPad app at some point to show more data on the screen.

Set the Zero to fps, shot view reads in m/s until you change it, ideally it would pick up settings from the zero. A tiny tiny user issue, on a brilliant unit.

Yea, there's a bunch of issues with the app, but that should get ironed out over time.

I see they are now selling in EMEA. Many more people should be teasing out issues. Hopefully the app gets some love soon.

FWIW, I emailed Garmin support about my problem with cloud sync never having worked. I don't know what they did, but something changed last night (I was logged out of the app) and now it is working.

This is good because whilst I connect the device to my phone, I want to view and edit the data on my tablet - which I can now do.

In the app and on the Garmin, my "Avg Kinetic Energy" is in Ft-Lbs.

It looks like on the Garmin, if you set units to FPS, then KE will be in Ft-Lbs. Power Factor is affected too as you would expect.

It seems it's not possible to change from metric to imperial within the app. It has to be done on the Garmin.

I take paper notes as I shoot. I then exported the session to Excel and added notes in Excel.

It might be clunky but it’s only a few clicks. I excluded some shots from a 35 long string shot by my Dad through his FX Impact whilst I was talking to the farmer. He didn’t know how to work it. Unfortunately the excluded shots went through to excel with the ones he wanted which was annoying but not the end of the world.
