It’s to do with the type of stainless some are magnetic others are not….I bought two kilos of stainless pins a couple of years ago in preparation for getting a wet tumbler. When I got around to getting a tumbler, several kilos of pins were included. I bought a magnet to aid seperating the pins from the cases and this works well with the pins supplied with the tumbler. The original pins that I already had, but not used, do not appear to be magnetic. Discuss!
N.B. My stainless rifle barrels ARE magnetic!
I bought their bigger one. Not sure how the non-magnetic ones can be seperated easily! A very fine sieve, I supposeI bought the Frankford Arsenal Lite unit, and their brand pins, which are magnetic.
I don't have the sifting pan, just drained through a towel for starters, but it's a faff.I bought their bigger one. Not sure how the non-magnetic ones can be seperated easily! A very fine sieve, I suppose
Ditto!Update. The Frankford pins could do with being a bit longer, prone to getting stuck in a 7mm neck.
I use a fine gauze fly guard(dome), the sort that keeps flies off cakes on a tray. Very few pins get throught it. The Frankford arsenal magnet works well. Pick up the pins, put them over where you want them and pull the handle, they all drop off.I don't have the sifting pan, just drained through a towel for starters, but it's a faff.
A salad spinner is an easy and cheap way to separate pins from cases. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Spinner-Vegetable-Drainer-Colander-Plastic/dp/B071G2TVMSI bought their bigger one. Not sure how the non-magnetic ones can be seperated easily! A very fine sieve, I suppose
Erm, I’ll have a look later when SHMBO has gone to bed. Salad consists of tomatoes and mushrooms for meHaha, looked at that and thought, I recognize that. One sat in the cupboard. What does that tell you about my relationship with salad.....
Looks good!If you want a magnet pick up tool then this place is cheaper than the Frankford arsenal ones
