Is there a low profile mag latch for the Atlas Worx metal bottom plate that holds factory magazines? The standard one is far too long and gets caught far too easily. This of course before I get my saw and file out.

You could cut the original so short that you break off your nails to get the mag out. Before the option of the round lever was available I cut mine shorter, the bush rifle was cut very short. I changed for the round lever now. These are for the AICS mag system.
mmbeatle should have the round lever or be able to get one. Otherwise just order from Atlasworx.

Out of interest, what happens if you rest the rifle on, say high seat rail, and move it back and forth
- with the optional hidden lever?
- with the regular lever cut as short as possible (that you can still replace the mag with no tools)?
Reason for question is, the original bottom "metal" lever is bad enough, accidentally dropped mag few times in ambush box, until I cut it flush with the bottom metal. It works fine as cut, I have no idea why they made it protrude since it's a recipe for problems. Original T3 btw, haven't looked at T3x but I think the lever is not changed.
Been thinking of upgrading to aluminium bottom metal (to cancel out plastic compression, I'm using B&C stock) but protruding lever would be a big no-no for me.

That's the scenario I first became aware of it, luckily. Was putting rifle into tripod and sliding forward into the saddle (bog tripod) caught the catch and mag dropped. Consciously I now seat it in the saddle just in front of the catch but far from ideal as it will eventually snag on something else at some stage.
The forward of mag positioned release lever of the T3 Lite/Varmint etc can of course also be filed down somewhat. Don't think there is a shorter lever solution out there. I haven't even looked if the Alu Atlasworx version is lower. There have been very little complaints about the original T3 plastic floorplate lever.

Scotch I see where you are coming from. Latch sticks out much more that on the original. Recon best is to cut and file, don't think there will be a shorter version coming as it doesn't seem a problem for most.

It only became really apparent in the car, which I’m forced to use as walking far isn’t an option currently.
I know it gets mocked but the Sako 85 mag release system shows it’s merits in this situation. Added safety to retaining the magazine. Just a shame about the aftermarket stock options

Thanks for the pic. So the problem is, with OEM bottom metal the area around front action bolt is relieved and provides ample access to lever. In Atlasworx you really should get away with the material between bolt recess and lever, and then remove the protruding part of lever. I wonder whether the OEM plastic lever fits the Atlasworx bottom metal...
