Found this nest today in the stables. I think it’s a robins nest, am I correct?

I would say not a wren

Hard to see the size really - blackbird ?

Can you not just stand back and watch for the adults ?

I'd say Robin.
We had this lot in the porch last year. We leave the back door open so the dog can go in and out as he pleases and never noticed until they had eggs, 8 in total 7 chicks fledged. Weeks of fun watching the adults tirelessly feed them all.20230607_191632.webp

Robin, wrens put a roof on the nest and enter via a hole.
Robins make an open cup.
Stay away from it, please.
At this phase the chicks will jump out and can go anywhere if you scare them.
Let them fledge in their own time.IMG_0761.webp
This one is in my garden.
She is sitting hard.

Found a couple of Wren nests over the years - beautifully made and as you say, a perfect little ball of twigs/leaves/down/moss with a small entrance hole. A real work of art!
