Updated my mergers XP50s and my mates XL50s last night.
In my opinion the overall picture quality on the XP50s is better but the difference in heat signatures isnt quite as good, a hare for instance at 200m isn’t quite as recognisable as before and at times has a slight flicker to the image.

Mine were fine today.
Agreed, the picture and general performance on my Merger XL50s is now shocking and I am bl**dy seething about updating the firmware!
For the image in general, it looks as if the contrast has vastly increased, so you see a big difference between different temperatures. However, If you're scanning across a piece of ground, as soon as a heat source comes into view e.g sheep in the foreground, it seems to dim the brightness and/or change the contrast of the whole screen, which washes out the image and you lose the clarity of the background and it's difficult to pick up detail on the ground and any distant heat sources. When it keeps changing brightness all the time like this at night it really messes with your eyes, almost as if the screen is flashing. Definition on hot objects is nowhere near as crisp now either. I have tried suggestions from Thomas Jacks of return to factory settings and format the memory, but this makes no difference.
Desperately hope Pulsar produce a fix. For those with Merger XLs, my advice would be to avoid updating the firmware!
Got the same with my thermion XP50 LRF, updated the firmware popped out last night for
got eyes on via thermal bins switched to thermion and same as you described!
Changed from black to white hot and fiddled about with settings absolute sh#t!! Picture appears to be dimming/flashing as I was scanning to pick up, went back to thermal bins and there he was 90m "clear as", switch back to scope dimming/flashing as if the contrast was self adjusting!!!
Result: walks!!!
My advice is DONT UPDATE!!!

The update has been done on my Mergers, I noticed a very slight increase in detail ....... BUT I now have a black flare or halo around sheep etc, the other stuff is irrelevant for me.
There has been a recent one. I updated my xg35lrf a couple of weeks ago and it's made an improvement. Better sharper image.
How about up date for xg35 lrf .

Using a pair of xp50 mergers, still on 2.0.01 firmware, when I updated them last time they started doing the flashing/contrast thing that others have mentioned, I find it really annoying, haven't figured out if I can stop that yet, I'm not updating the thermion or the mergers yet in fear of making things worse!
Definitely don't do your thermion! Mine is now sh#t!! Hopefully speaking to TJ to see if there is anything that can be done, will also mention Mergers and will post back mine/their findings/advice .

merger xL 50! Mines gone to rat **** too, at each auto calibration it takes a photo like image and halo /shadow of anything it captures, I have to switch the unit off to sort it out, it’s off more than it’s on. absolute nightmare when needed the most at lambing time. They best get this fix sorted ASAP or their ‘brand’ will be washed. Raging.
UPDATE: Spoke to TJ ref the issue with my thermion and also mentioned the issue some are having with their Mergers (grainy picture, halo around quarry, etc)!
So was put through to the technical department where I asked the question can this lastest firmware update be removed without sending the themal back! Answer YES

SO 10 minutes later and job done after removing battery pressing buttons down together etc etc you get the picture

So all in all what a brilliant service, NOW for the downfall:
For the thermion: will req rezoning and the ballistic data will need to be reloaded BUT no more dimming etc and image detail back to what it should be.
For the Mergers: similar process but without any ill effects basically from what I understand it is a reboot to the original update when it left the factory.
So basically wait for the next firmware update and roll the dice if you DARE !!!

That suggests it’s gone to ‘M’anual calibration where you need to close the lens cap… if it’s still showing the A in the bottom of the screen then that’s obviously not right …. Which could mean that your shutter is sticking
Putting it into SemiAuto and closing the cap to calibrate would/should get you through lambing

I asked for the procedure but as I don't own a pair he wouldn't say as they have to talk you through the process which requires you to read from the information on your device.

I was absolutely bouncing ref this update, seriously FU#KED me off too, however I'm now calm "sort of" give TJ a bell it certainly worked for me
