Two days ago, this knife was used to finish a Wildebeest.

There is absolutely no need to post the graphic images of this rather unhappy incident, but the knife performed well, and did the job required of it.


The Skinners used this knife and (other than the missing fingers gag), were positive in how the knife worked.

I also asked the PHs for their views - and their responses were positive in relation to the 'weight, grip and feel' of the knife.

That is remained in its sheath is something of a miracle, bearing in mind some of the scrapes I got it into.

For what it is worth - it also gets my vote.

Knives are (much like rifles) a very personal thing. I like this knife.


Much to my relief, I have returned to the UK and the knife is still with me.

It has been sharpened by both the Skinners and one of the PHs (who finished it off, with long swipes with the inside of his leather belt).

Perhaps it could do with a clean, and perhaps when I get over the trauma of the flights (much better on the return leg), I will give it some TLC and my rifle some much needed R&R.

Apropos knives.

JAK is still on the Dark Continent. He was handed over to one of the group (witnessed), and his adventures continue.
He is now (thankfully) no longer my responsibility and the sense of relief one feels about that, is both real and significant.
The main thing is, that if he now goes AWOL, it was...
