Speed or bc?

I started a discussion about a .243 rebarrel and some of the answers have made me question one of my assumptions.
I always thought that high bc was better than high mv at about 400 yards plus.
So my question is small light for calibre with high mv or heavy for calibre but with lower mv but high bc better.
When does one become better.
And I’m thinking more about wind drift than drop.
In short out to 600 yards spread or bc?
Cheers.

It depends is the actual answer. In any ballistic scenario you're always 'robbing peter to pay paul' so to speak. The best thing is to run the numbers for a given bullet/MV combination vs another and see how they compare. Any ballistic calculator will tell you and provided you input sensible assumptions for MV and the bullet you're modelling has an accurate BC quoted it will give you the answer as to your wind drift at any given range vs another combination.
