My wife has recently (6 weeks ago) bought herself an Audi rsq3.
Last night at 12.30, 6 balaclava wearing lads tried pinching it.
Me and the wife had just gone to bed and my 19 year old lad was sat watching tv in the lounge with the main light still on.
We heard a bang, curiosity got the better of me and I looked out of the bedroom window.
There was a car with lights still on, parked 20 yds down from our drive.
I called downstairs to my lad and asked what the bang was, he said he thought it was us making the noise.
I asked him to pop his head out the front door to see what the car was doing parked up down the road.
As he opened the door there was a lad about 15 foot away who had a glass bottle in his hand. After much shouting the scumbag ran towards the door and my lad slammed it.
He shouted up that they at least 6 lsds wearing balaclavas who were trying to pinch the car.
Police were rang and after 15 minutes 6 police cars arrived with an armed response vehicle.
They looked around and the bang must have been from them forcing a steel side gate open and it banging against the wall.
They were coming around to the patio doors at the rear of the house.
Police just said they’d cruise around the area for abit and try and check cameras in the local area.
Long and short is that you don’t seem to be able to have anything nice that you’ve worked for and the police are too stretched to really investigate.
Armed police obviously knew I had firearms on the premises and the asked if I had a license!🤦
Scum of the earth!!.

That’s awful, sorry to hear this. Reminds me of a scene from American History X 😂 but truth is of course, never get involved and call the police!

Worst thing is, they’ll probably be back again tonight and the next night, waiting for a chance and hoping you think they’re now scared off for good

Not great. My sympathy, nerves will be shot and on full alter for a while I expect.

Any way of putting it in a garage for a bit or out of sight? Or Any other (less sought after) vehicles you can use to block in the Audi and deter the magpies? Or other bulky items, Works for our farmers up here.

Long term consider a Move to Texas; you can adopt a different approach to dealing with situations like this.

Was social media used to highlight the new car? Ive heard many dealers will ask new buyers to pose for a snap on their social media feed, apparently the magpies review these and can reverse image search for individuals, which could help Id the location of the car.

To be fair there is a Myriad of ways they find the new shiny things.

After A week of baiting magpies with chickens eggs; leaves me to think about synergies with humans and corivds, in terms of attractions.

Speaking from experience as we got a day time burglar with me at home to steal a mountain bike I though was well covered in a out building- but not enough to stop the double glazing from being bricked in and bike lifted before I knew anything! Like I say, both are pest species that need controlled! And both not as stupid as you might think!

Thanks for the comments.
The Audi is always blocked in with either my hilux or my lads car, it’s got a disc lock covering the steering wheel as well.
Can’t put it in the garage….. that’s where I keep my restored Landrover defender 90.🤫🤫
Probably the defender they were after! 😂 6 guys so when it breaks down on their retreat, they can carry it the rest of the way !

At least you are safe and the police attended, i did not had the luxury when my car was stolen.
Luckly i have a tracker on it and me an my missus went to steal it back from the scumbags ...
Called the police again when i found the car only to be told that they can't send anyone to assist as it was 6am and it was the shift change over... And to add insult to injury, they sent me a an email to complete a satisfaction survey...

Check neighbours door bell camera footage.
Buy yourself a Ring doorbell & century flood light

Checked all ring cameras etc.
They parked out the way and all wore black clothing and balaclavas, cameras don’t seem to be a deterrent and we’re in a semi rural village, so abit of a wait for the police.
It’s all well and good going out with a bat etc, but I’d be the one up in front of a judge.

Drop a apple air tag some where out way in car perfect tracker im sorry to say but if i was in your position id go straight to cabinet and blow the first b***ards in front me knee caps off think about it afterwards a guy round here caught a guy in his car on drive way guess what he did tied his hands up straight to towbar n left him few mile down road sadly owner went prison for it
