Moderator Changes on FAC

Re existence of legislation.
S57(1) Firearms Act 1968 as amended by Policing and Crime Act 2017 (c. 3), ss. 125(2), 183(1)(5)(e); S.I. 2017/399, reg. 4(b) on 02/05/2017, which is also primary legislation.

The Legislative and Regulatory Reform Act 2006 is a cracking piece of legislation, written so as to enable a wide range of legislative changes, one has to wonder why it is not used far more often, could cut so much red tape and bureaucracy, but think of all, those poor civil servants who would be made redundant.

I’d be interested in the ‘in progress bit’.

Had our Fao come out for a chat a few weeks ago and he seemed to talk very confidently on how ridiculous it was to have them on licence, he said it wouldn’t be a 5 minute thing changing it but would certainly be happening in the next couple of years

I’m no politician, it must have been discussed in the past and a date set
I’ll make it easy for you

It’s in the trade press. Now as the election has been called it won’t be carried out by the current government as it is no longer a government. Whether or not the civil serpants will do under the next government remains to be seen. I’m not holding my breath!

My little SAK has died this last week, per shot it has been fantastic value over the last 8 years. I won’t bother changing it and await a revision to the legislation then celebrate by throwing the old moderator into the wheelie bin and mail ordering a replacement. As that may be a long wait off and I am fortunate that my moderator safe is so well stocked with the various .22 calibre moderators I won’t go short, in fact it may not even be replaced. If moderators come off ticket I imagine that a number of us will be thinning the moderator collection down considerably as there will no longer be a need to retain capacity.

Any update on this I belive I read that that consultation is meant to have end in April 2024 but wondered if anyone in the know has any update
