8k to spend on a rifle: high end custom rifle or blaser R8?

With full custom i mean for example manners stock, bartlein barrel, defiance action with also a lot of customizations on each of these components. I know because i did it, in Italy, maybe in the UK prices are a but different but i think the price would be similar. An important assumption is that the builder of the custom rifle must be a respected professional and in the 8k is included also his payment.

R8 then you get back a better % when you sell it. All the custom rifles I see that are amazing seem to depreciate like a lead balloon.
Good point, i am not talking about resale value though.. i don't buy a rifle with the idea to resell it

Anyway i am not surprised. If someone wants a custom, he makes a custom built for him. If someone wants to buy used, going with a custom he doesn't know much about the building and fitting quality, that is not a popolare choice, understandably

It’s always nice to have something no one else has, custom💯🎯

I don't like blasers so my question was a bit salty ahah

The custom, IF build by a professional, is just a better rifle overall in my opinion (stock quality, action quality, barrel quality, trigger quality with the brands i mentioned). This is not so important from a practical point of view because both rifles are excellent quality but, let's be honest, a 1-2k euros rifle is gtg for most applications. I don't see why people could prefer a stock blaser other than resale value, waiting time and other things like those. Oh and I was forgetting the interchangeable barrel thing. That could be a point for blasers too if you like to play with different calibers. Straight pull is a little more than a marketing thing in my opinion but many people here will disagree and that's totally ok!

You won’t be long chewing through 8 grand

Blasers do resell better , but custom rifles look head and shoulders better and you can get exactly what you want in every way.

B&N did post a nice looking blaser today he chambered in 7 prc.

In my mind if someone gifted me a blaser I would use it to poke the fire with and fit tyres to rims.

I have a Blaser R8 Ultimate.

Spend £4k on a custom with a decent stock. You will lose money no matter what. Barrels will be cheaper. The forend will be better.

I’m more than happy with my Barrett MRAD, multi calibre and so once a barrel is shot out, it’ll be easy to get another longer or shorter

Horses for courses. It was suggested to me that the more compact breakdown case of Blaser worked well for the city boys. Keeper up here shoots a Blaser, and bloody well too, leaves the semi and full customs standing.

Full custom no question to my mind.

My guess is accuracy is at a premium when considering a rifle build, so a full custom will tick this box to a greater degree, as well as the multiple other requirements. All you need to do is cast an eye towards the competitive rifle world and it is clearly dominated by custom builds.

I have a real liking for Borden actions in McMillan mcswirly stocks, GC 2 stage triggers, but the options are literally endless.

Callum Ferguson, Steve Kershaw, Valkyrie or Ronin would be my thoughts as to potential riflesmiths.

Don’t you mean Blaser clitoris every c**t has one go full custom look at a barrel as a expendable feature that can be swapped as and when you fancy a different calibre or you ruin it . everything else other than that is tailored to your liking your rifle no one else has the same bog standard factory rifle

I would go full custom, irrespective of carbon stock or finest grade walnut.
You have the opportunity to create something special, and if the bill is slightly over budget you would feel it's worth it.
A blaser has it's place, but memories aren't built from them.
A rifle should have a visual impact on your excursions, and a special build gives you this and the tactile experience.
This gives you the feeling to pass it down, a blaser is for trading in
