Rifle storage- gun safe modifications?

Hi there- i am currently storing two rifles (.22 rf and a .223) in my shotgun gunsafe alongside a shotgun. However it all gets abit cramped in there (despite being a 5 gun safe) given the rifles go in sideways to protect the scope etc

Anyone aware of an adaptor that would hold the rifle securely. Place rather than trying to use the foam shotgun holder ??

Mine cabinet is somewhat cramped and I've put neoprene covers over all the scopes that both does a good job at protecting them and assists in holding the actual rifles in place

Take the foam out and make a more suitable one from plywood, try alternating the rifles (one muzzle down, one muzzle up etc), depending on your shotgun, eg if its s/s, o/u, the barrels are not a controlled part, so as long as the action is secure the barrels don't need to be in the cabinet (although it is advisable), you may gain extra room that way, or by a bigger cabinet

Modern house construction and as a consequence limited location possibilities mean that my main safe tends to get a bit cramped. I’ve got the biggest extra deep rifle safe I can get in there but as I extend all of my stocks to the same LOP, there’s a bottle neck in the area where the turrets mesh. I fit neoprene covers to the dS and Z6i but there’s a Thermion and an Alpex 4K in the mix too (as well as a fully moderated shotgun). As I like short 20” barrels, top and tailing doesn’t improve the situation either.

I recently bought a US gun safe magnet from SGC designed to hold a rifle directly but, instead of installing it as intended, I fitted it underneath the lockable top box in the safe and attached 2 heavy duty angle brackets to it. It’s not screwed in position - the magnet works both ways. From each of these I now hang a rifle using a small s-hook though the butt swivel loop into the right angle bracket. By elevating 2 rifles alternating with those on the ground it gets over the scope clash problem. I have 3 conventionally spaced with their butts on the ground and 2 hung reversed. I tried this as an experiment before I permanently riveted brackets in the safe but it works so well I have not got around to doing that yet. I’ll probably just fit 2 “eyes” underneath the top box when I have time as a better solution but the proof of concept certainly worked :thumb:

Remove foam.

Rifles up, shotguns down - all in socks to prevent dings.

Ps the socks will stretch to take scoped rifles.

Shotguns muzzle down rifles muzzle up ditch the foam and make something more suitable out of ply or metal covered of course
