Camo or gentleman stalker ?

Camo follows the same fashion rules as denim; you can wear the top or the bottom but never both together!
Haha today I went out with matching cammo trousers and shirt both well doused in anti tick stuff. I might have looked a prat but shot two bucks and went through bracken and crawled about with no ticks at the end of it so that’s good.

I just wear a Swanndri Ranger bush shirt on top & Harlika Pro Hunters on my bottom half. Neither are camo patterned. Hat & veil to obscure my slap-head & big grin & either a pair of Danner Pronghorns or wellies on my feet…works just fine for me! I’m a Bass angler and I honestly think, a lot of stalking / hunting clothing, very much like Bass lures, are to catch the hunter and not the target species being hunted!

I’m enjoying cammo at the moment but who knows?
Stick to it, don`t change because some clown pooh pooh`s it. You will win more.

I honestly think economy of movement and awareness of the wind leads to more success than trying to visually blend in
And combined with cammo you will win even more rounds.
and being able to get close to the quarry.
For stalking deer on foot, proper deer stalking, you know hunting. Not sitting in a seat shooting over a field, or lighting up deer in stubble from inside an auto and waving a light around but getting in tight with them.
There is a real thrill knowing that one has beaten the quarry, recorded it`s image and slipped away with the animal not knowing that you had been there. Yes it is possible to do it wearing a tennis dress too but you will win a lot more times in wearing proper cammo.
Having circa two thousand youtube videos of wild deer, many taken incredibly close I know emphatically that being properly cammed is simply a plus no matter what the *uck this bloke, this keeper, this *unt and this and that expert said.
If I`m gonna be cammed so is the person that I take out...or they don`t come too.

I have a Barbour wax coat close to black (green) keeps the wind out so just stand and wait.
Gary Hill was wearing a dark brown waxed coat and was shot and killed by his nephew (thought he was a deer bent over under a tree in poor light)
Cammo is for fooling people, not deer
That is the most ridiculous statement that you have ever made Timmy.

I had this very conversation with a stalker who I was helping to train up in as much we both went out on a foot stalk wearing a hi viz vest over a normal shirt
He shot a 6 pointer buck with 30 mins into the stalk, personally my thoughts are with how you stalk, read the deer , ground, breeze etc

White suit on fells in the winter.
Half white often a white jacket/over suit with green pants so i can take it of if I stand in front of green trees in the winter.

I favour full camo, match the camo to the terrain/season and you dramatically 'melt away'.
As some have said, camo is about breaking up a recognisable outline, deceiving the eye of the watcher, who is looking for familiar, recognisable shapes.
Yes, you can have success in full hi-viz with 3M strips, but why meddle with the odds, unless you're a gambler.
Best monotone is the flat olive drab as it leads itself well to a variety of background dominating colours.

"Hat & veil"
Thanks @Lee the Gun , you reminded me, how could I have forgot?
Face veil, I hate going without that and/or gloves!!!
I've become SO obsessive about that I actually carry a couple of spares of each in the truck just in case anyone heading out with me doesn't have theirs with them.
In fact I prefer not to stalk with someone who is bare-faced and/or bare-handed if I can avoid doing so.
I think that human face and hands are dead give-aways to deer even when not moving.

I spent years as a moorland keeper wearing nothing but my dad's old donkey jacket and his steel toe Dunlop wellies 😂. Years later and I still don't like spending money. I did once take to wearing camo but only cos our kid joined the army and gave me all his old stuff.....shot plenty while wearing a nuclear/chemical/biological protection suit 💪
