First Thermal Riflescope Advice

Advice from the experts please!

I’m looking to buy my first thermal riflescope. This will be mainly for foxing on my 223 and or 308, might stick it on my 17hmr occasionally for rabbits. Shooting from a truck generally.

I have been out with a good friend who has a Thermtec thermal riflescope (an Ares335) which he swears by. I think it’s ok.

I’m looking to spend up to £2,500 but will go a bit more if I must.

The question I have is what would you buy (and if possible why). I’m finding the options confusing, without being able to view through the different options it’s really difficult to know where best to invest.

Thanks for your help.

Best Jonno

If your budget is £2500

These Options

If you can stretch to just over £3k you could have one of these which is better again, I personally think around the £3k-3.5k mark this is the best allround scope out there for a range of uses in terms of cost and performance ...

That’s helpful, but if it was your money which would you choose to buy?

Definitely the Thunder TQ50V2
It's simply the best bang for your buck thermal scope on the market at the moment and plenty good enough for what you want to do
I have the previous generation Thunder TQ50 and I've shot foxes at over 300 yards with it

Cheers

Thank you for your input, very much appreciated.

I have been wanting to buy a thermal scope for several months (other bills have gotten in the way).

I was pretty much decided on TQ50 - will be interesting to see Blackwood Outdoors offer - I looked at XG50 - fantastic image but might have to sell body parts to get!

Bruce, do you think DNT are going to come out with something similar in not too distance future?

Special Deal - ATN MARS LTV 256 compact thermal scope - HUGE SAVINGS

These have just been listed by ATN UK and could be a great start for you

DNT are on record as saying they will bring out a multispecral scope with a 640 thermal sensor and 50mm lens which would put it in the same ball park performance wise as the Thunder
I have no idea of when that will be or what it will cost
Frankly, I'd just go ahead and get the Thunder 2

Cheers

Thanks Bruce 👍

I see Pard are releasing a range of thermal scopes - doesn’t seem to be a lot of information about them at moment

Don't bother, the thermal image is not great.

The multi-spectral is basically a Pard DS35 and barely what you would consider a half decent thermal... Just buy a decent dedicated thermal or if night vision just buy an Alpex 4K or Arken Zulus
