Thermal monoculars with low base magnification

I'll need a thermal monocular at some stage in the not too distant future and instead of scanning through all the specs of all the lower priced thermals, or any price for that matter, can anyone let me know if they are using a monocular with a base magnification of 1x

It may make the task of selecting a thermal quicker

Thermals with objective lenses in the 19-25mm range usually have base magnifications around x1

If you want some of the widest FOV available. You want to look for a higher resolution sensor and smaller lens specification.

A lot use these below models for bat surveys as they have a really wide field of view being a 640px sensor and 13mm lens combination.

With a base mag of 1 you will only get detail on close range stuff. So ok for 50 yard 100 yard stuff.
Best thermal I used was pulsar helion xp 50 which had base mag of 2.5 and got could get detail out to 500 yds.

For close up work, this is too tight a field of view for certain use, some want to be able to tripod mount and cover a wide area, for example looking at an entry and exit point and the surrounding area, with limited space to move around... Thats why the A613 is popular with a 0.8 base mag whilst retaining 640 resolution.

I have the same low base mag' requirement, although I found the older Infiray FH25R worked well for me. And picture quality was excellent, The range finder was a bit flakey though.

The market has changed dramatically in the last couple of years, where i don't even recognise half the brands, but hopefully, it will be easier to find a good choice of quality low base mag options

What makes you think Pixfra is Slovenian brand?

I wish it would be true, but unfortunately our company that used to produce military grade thermal and NV equipment has been sold to US company some 20 years ago and all military program has been closed down few years after that.
