Given that an awful lot of avian influenza cases were in backyard units, this seems a not unreasonable register to keep. Took about 4 minutes to fill in

By completing the registration documents it reduces the need to knock on every household door within the protection zone around the infected premises(3km).

In some area that can be a lot of houses-
Some Local Authorities have had to do mail shots at £1 a letter it does not take long to run up to £30 k.

If filled in correctly and not fked up on purpose it could actually work. If you think big brother is watching you , delete all of your social media and drop your smart phones in a bucket of water, and start making tin foil hats .

Chip is in the ear tag of the sheep so they can be read at speed in markets and on larger agricultural premises who use them to good effect to keep records up to date.

Pigs under 12 months of age moving farm to farm can move on a temp mark. Pigs over 12 months of age can be slap marked or ear tagged- tag must be capable of surviving slaughter process. Won’t find chipped tags in pigs.

People who make a living out of livestock can follow the rules , people who keep livestock as pets struggle with the rules.

Indeed. I imagine a couple of backyard birds are a far greater danger than the hundreds of thousands of geese and other migratory species that appear each year. As long as the government are fully appraised of the whereabouts of Puddles the Duck and Henrietta Hen we'll all be safe
