Do I cut down the barrel on my 22-250 or buy a short 223

Hi all, looking for some advice, I have a few rifles and the shortest barrel I have is my 22-250 which is 24 inches, I have always used a quad bike for work so it didn’t affect me at all, but now my estate has got me a can-am buggy, and the barrel length in the cab is driving me up the wall, so now I’m debating cutting down my 22-250 to 18inches or selling it and getting the new bergara b14 stoke in 223 which has a 16.5 inch barrel, because I know if I cut down my 22-250 it will kill the speed so should I just get 223, what’s your opinion?
Cheers.

Don't think I'd go as short as 18", just had mine rebarreled and went for 24" from 20". Whats the issue with the cab, could a different carry system solve the issue? Or get a bullpup stock

The only issues is trying to manoeuvre it inside just because I shoot out the window a fair bit

My 22-250 had a 26 inch barrel

It’s now a 22 and I’ve had no loss of velocity that I can’t regain with reloading..

I would not have a problem with a 20” 22/250. But as 1894 said noise might surprise you i have a 20” 243 and it seems hellish loud even with a moderater

My 22-250 has a 20” barrel and from published load data that is generally from a 24” test barrel, I reckon that I’m losing less than 150fps.
Noise wise, a lot of people get hung up on how loud they think their rifle is, you’re shooting it with your ear right next to it.
My son was using my 22-250 and I was walking back from the car to where he was firing from, just 30yds away and I could hardly believe how much quieter it sounded from being stood next to him. Imagine being 200yds away and thinking you could tell the difference between two similar chamberings?

That’s for the help guys, I’m a grouse keeper and most of my shots is on the moor and it’s so open that most rifles sound almost silent weirdly compare to when I shoot in the low ground beats so I’m not too worried about noise

Try mounting on the dash board if its a full cab and shooting out the drivers (left) window, if the screen is lifted, I'd fit a rest across the front and have an elbow rest between the seats and mount the rifle on that while not in use, or if you're only shooting sub 300, trade in and get the .223
