Tyson Vs. Paul

My daughter's boyfriend is fighting in jockey's boxing tonight, I quoted Mike's line "everyone has a plan until they get hit in the face" and general advice was go hard early and rely on your fitness to carry the third round.....
Good for him, I did the stable lads boxing for 3 years in the 80,s. I loved it and it was one of the big highlights of the year. We used to fight the prelims at Chelsea barracks. I actually got to the semi,s one year but unfortunately i came up against the ABA English champion (Brian Drabner). I still have no memory of the fight other than it was over at the end of the first.
My point being that a chap who can really box only needs one punch and there is a saying that old men may loose the speed but you never loose your punch.
Tusker

Must admit i think the fight is an absolute disgrace.
Who TF is jake paul anyway?
Some internet hero.

I just cant understand why anyone would give him the time of day.
How a chancer like this can even be mentioned in the same breath as a true legend like Tyson.

Wot incentive is there for geniune talented kids to work there way up the ranks gradually, when a nupmty like this can get big money fights without doing the hard work working up to them.

How the boxing authorities have approved it either.
Just bonkers.
And never mind the betting money aspect.
How is it legal to bet on this fight??
( im assuming u can bet on it)
No one knows the contracts, being widely touted Tysons is dependent on how many rounds he does and loses money if he knocks him out.
Just not fair to punters.
Just so open to fixing, many also believe Tyson been paid to take a dive. ( mibbee unrhinkable in his prime but at almost 60 an extra big bag of cash. )

Absolutely nobody cares about the contracts or who sanctions it. These fights and the misfits boxing are nothing more than influencer back yard brawls. But Paul has shown the way for young fighters to make money in this game it’s all about social media presence the incentive is build a base build money outside of the boxing results and make seven figure pay days well before world title level (let’s be honest 90% won’t get there anyway).

Whilst there absolutely not for the purists they are great for the sport getting eyes on and folk into it. Some of the misfits cards make such great viewing nothing worse from a commercial or spectator standpoint than watching two highly skilled boxers dancing for half an hour.

Sadly boxing brought this on itself because of its corrupt nature and failure to get the big fights made.

My heart says Tyson, head says Paul.

Have many of you seen JP fight before? I haven't, but a fella who's opinion I respect, tells me if you look past all the glitz & shité he actually puts in a shift most fights. Don't underestimate just because of his ridiculous background.

He’s genuinely not that good but you have to look at it in context he’s probably 13 fights in and has made £100m+. Yes he’s not got the pedigree or schooling but every time he fights gets a bit better and some of his training partners and camp are proper heavy hitters from the boxing world he’s not just doing it on a whim he’s investing in himself

Do I agree with him fighting a dude who’s been exploited by boxing his whole life no I do not but I certainly don’t begrudge either man a big pay day. At the end of the day it’s a spectator sport.

Tusker
He won his fight!

I think the raw aggression disappeared from Tyson some years ago, but he's a man full of pride and won't want to be made a monkey by Paul, my money is on Iron Mike, I'd image this is going to be an exhibition type fight... not the real deal.

be an exhibition type fight... not the real deal.

Though id be surprised (and disappointed) if Tyson had agreed to anything close to this.

That said, Froch is an actual prick, I'm speaking as someone who has met him twice & both times left laughing at how much of a diçk he was.

Is that a rather fine Northumberland Fusiliers Tie and budgie?
Good skills! Northumberland Fusilier hackle - adopted by the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers in 1968 when the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers, Royal Warwickshire Fusiliers, Royal Fusiliers and Lancashire Fusiliers merged. Tie was invented by a friend of mine on a beer mat in 1992 as the previous one's even more offensive. The chap wearing them grew up in a children's home, followed his brother into Jumior Leaders at 15 years old, was there when his brother was killed. Was my Platoon Sgt, C/Sgt and WO2. Retired as a QM Lt Colonel. Absolutely top man.

Just watched first episode of the build up... Still none the wiser.... I think if Mike can land some early then Paul will be in trouble. But, so many times Mike didn't just seem his age, he seems older ☹️. Obviously training hard now, but admits he was "chillin' smoking weed" before all of this with Paul. If it goes past 2 rounds then it's JPs to lose.

Was a bit in paper the other day.
Meant to be a 60 million quid ( or more likely dolloars purse)
But they had Pual getting 40 mill and Tyson only ( i say only( gettibg 20 mill.
How the hell does that make sense.
Ud think an ex wirkd champ is a far vigger draw, almost the whoke pkanet knows who tyson is.

I still cant get my head around how paul even finds himself in a ring with anyone with a real fightingl pedigree never mind a legendry ex world champ luke tyson.

I think it brings boxing into disrepute the fact a clown like paul is getting any air or ring time..

And these massive purses i dont suppose any money is ever filtered back into grass roors boxing

It's on Netflix in the early hours of Saturday morning. Obviously, with an undercard, they don't guarantee a start time, but it'll be something silly o'clock.

Who will win? Anybody's guess really. It'll all depend on what Tyson has got I suspect. His MO back in the day was to be really quick in past his longer reaching opponent's defence to let go with his big guns. I suspect he's got his big hits still, but whether his ability to be quick enough is still there to get in is maybe the question. Paul is a total ar*e, but if Tyson hasn't got that attacking ability, there'll be only one outcome. Although one punch from Tyson could always alter everything.
