Are Game dealer prices at an all time low?

To be fair (to you), it's not really that wonderful. You're saying 15 hours cutting, probably knock an hour and a half off for breaks etc., so your labour would be say £300, then add in electric and waste disposal costs, the only reason you have for doing it is you enjoy being your own boss.
Well I cut and packed 7 deer, so at a retail value of £400 apiece or thereabouts the £300 labour doesn't sound so bad.

(But yes, you're right, the real reason is that I enjoy doing it. That's the basis for all my business decisions).

you forgot the investment in premise's and equipment and insurance, did he buy the carcasses in or shoot them himself, yet another cost. Transport, packaging, marketing all take chunk of the profits.. If being a game dealer was so profitable then why is it that they are falling like flies, is it because there's no money in it or there is not the market or both! Interesting times ahead...

hello, I am not a Stalker but joined the Forum as I have been interested in Countryside activities eg Shooting/Fishing/Farming for about 60 years , Reading the Post on selling Venison, do people sell to family / friends/ neighbour if the price at the Game dealers is so low ??

Yes, many do.

If you consider the amount of sellable meat on an in skin carcass is probably 50% of the carcass weight, plus you have all the transport and process costs. Wholesale prices to major supermarkets is 50% of retail prices.

There is probably reasonable money made by game dealers, but not rediculous money, especially given the capex employed.

Easy enough to find out as any Ltd company will have accounts available at companies house which you can look up for free.

@willie_gunn is in Oxfordshire I think, and I'm pretty sure he retails.
There will be others.
Thank you @VSS - yes I am, and yes I do, albeit I am not a dedicated retailer,so primarily supply via word of mouth, as and when I have surplus roe/muntjac carcasses.

@Flash G 74 - I am near Faringdon if that helps.

You may also want to check out Oakland Park, a new AGHE which has opened near Chieveley (M4/A34 junction).

Take a little time and have a look at the profits of these game dealers, you might be surprised and a little less thankful for the pitiful amounts paid for your efforts.

Would you care to share the research you have found ?

I can't believe there's that much money in it tbh.

Just heard on the grapevine that Contractors in the future will still be paid a bounty(somewhat dimished) but will also get the carcass, nobody wants them, they are not worth the effort contrary to what you here on some forums.
That's
