Are Game dealer prices at an all time low?

Just heard on the grapevine that Contractors in the future will still be paid a bounty(somewhat dimished) but will also get the carcass, nobody wants them, they are not worth the effort contrary to what you here on some forums.
That's what I've been telling people that are finding it hard to get into stalking. In the future if you offer the whole package you will be able to build a business but you won't make a fortune.
A lot of land managers just want the job done professionally without adding to their work load.

To be fair (to you), it's not really that wonderful. You're saying 15 hours cutting, probably knock an hour and a half off for breaks etc., so your labour would be say £300, then add in electric and waste disposal costs, the only reason you have for doing it is you enjoy being your own boss.
Have you ever ran a business?

you forgot the investment in premise's and equipment and insurance, did he buy the carcasses in or shoot them himself, yet another cost. Transport, packaging, marketing all take chunk of the profits.. If being a game dealer was so profitable then why is it that they are falling like flies, is it because there's no money in it or there is not the market or both! Interesting times ahead...
Well I didn't forget, I just didn't bother to list everything. If VSS managed to cut and pack 7 deer in his day, then he's doing well, but that's not every day, and he still has to spend time to sell it.
Not the easiest or quickest way to make his fortune!

An example nearly to what your just quoted - I rent ground in Campbeltown that I’ve shot on for 30 + years and admittedly I d do not pay crazy money for it but when it was sold on to a new company they planted all the

Funny thing, game. It often costs an awful lot of money to get it. Usually accompanied by a lot of effort. When you sell it on it has very little value. However, it costs a lot when you wish to buy it !
The old saying about pheasant shooting. Up goes guinea, bang goes sixpence, down comes half a crown.

It’s all down to over supply! To many deer’ more than ever stalkers’ night shooting putting more in the chiller and not enough eaters! But when they pay nothing they get nothing and the price goes up (a bit)1732560639390.webp

Good evening it’s been a while!!
Shot my first Muntjac in about 10 months on Thurs so won’t be going to a dealer but if it’s anything like the pheasants they won’t be buying them! The keeper told us where we beat that this season they are charging 15p per bird to take them off the shoot, let alone paying for them!
God forbid the venison goes the same way!

Not everywhere, I’m still being paid £0.50 a bird

Welcome back! Where've you been hiding?

It's easy to get rid of muntjac outside the main does season so that's when I shoot most of my muntjac cull
