Anyone any good at identifying pellets? I think barn owl or kestrel...?? It's evidently roosting/perching up there (but not there the now).

This might be useful as well: Owl Pellet Dissection

I had a look at the Barn Owl Trust website and they have a wipe-clean version of the dissection chart. I was hoping there was an iPhone App, but it seems not.

You can normally buy the chart as part of a pellet pack from the Barn Owl Trust, which includes a couple of pellets you can dissect at home, but sadly they are out of stock at the moment.

I hope the girls have a great time - I imagine they will be absolutely fascinated by taking a look inside owl poo!
 
There has been a couple of barn owls on a farm where I go ratting. I've not seen a young rat for months just adults!
I even had them fly past carrying small rats and land on the stubble to eat.
Smart birds.
