6.5 Creedmoor N555 - Yew Tree and Hornady CX

Hi all.

I am looking for a head start. I would like to develop non lead loads for a 20" 6.5 creedmoor using N555. I have a box of 114g Yew Tree and 120g CX. Any advice on COAL and loads you are pleased with would be appreciated. I will be taking the precautions of working up to any recommend loads.

Can't help with the powder (I used RS52 and pals use N150), but for sure start .050" off the lands as a minimum.
If in doubt, speak to Richard at Yew Tree, very helpful by all accounts.

I think with a shorter barrel Richard may even recommend the 101gr TLRX

He does recommend those for the non spicy 6.5 offerings.

Sako Blades in .270 have been giving me decent €1 coin sized exit wounds on everything I've shot with them so far.

I shoot a 6.5x55 with tlr 114gn and n555 currently I'm shooting 51gn powder. That’s loading with a drop tube to get it all in. My advice is proceed with caution but try to get the speed to 2900+ I’m at 3070 but with a 24” barrel. You will probably run out of case capacity before you get pressure signs. I think my friend shoots 50gn n555 in his for just over 2900fps in a 20” barrel.

Re CX….. I use a Sako 120gr and N555. My ladder went from 42.5-45.5grs with LRP.

I settled on 44.5gr. This was 20” tikka 6.5CM
