Without getting into the merits or otherwise of the caliber , if you had £700 to spend on a new .22LR what would you buy ?

Friend recently got sold a TikkaT1 only to get home and find it was a .17hmr not a .22, for which he didn't have permission on his ticket, shop even did the paperwork !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FFS.
Much panic ensued and shop duly collected, I know the shop and frankly not surprised. Shame on my friend also for not paying attention.

Annie XIV carbine with Walnut thumbhole stock. You could get a SH one under your budget.
X2 in this household and mate has one as well.

T1X, I own one now and had a CZ before it - I would say the opposite of some - the tikka has a “big” rifle feel…the CZ felt a bit cheap.

the standard Tikka stock is a bit plasticky but I changed that anyway…

CZ or Brno for accuracy, T1X for sheer shoot ability, its a great truck tractor gun, I sling mine around, it gets knocked dropped & mud encrusted, short barrel & over barrel mod, it just makes you want to get out there & shoot stuff, fantastic fun, & that's what rimfire .22 is all about. Solid piece of kit.

Ammo is the determining factor with 22lr, you try putting the new Winny subs or the shite new Eleys through a sexy new rifle!!
This is unfortunately so, so true!

Unless I use my dwindling supply of vintage RWS subsonic in my Cooper 22LR or something like Lapua Midas target ammo my 22 Daystate FAC-rated air-rifle is capable of consistently producing tighter groups out to 50M.
