Lantra Wild Game Meat Hygiene Assessment

Trickyd66

If you have not long done your DSC1 you only have large game and meat hygiene (theory only)
Sat my large game and meat hygiene with wessexgame (mike) through NGO and that as trained hunter no. NGO----
a lot cheaper than DSC2 is My DSC1 does not have this

I did the Lantra add on with practical element on top of the DSC1. The lantra number is the trained hunter number. Apologies for not being clearer as lantra cert was posted on #53.

Morkai..

I was trying to say if he as not long ago completed the DSC1 he would only have the LGM in theory only on there cert.

That is why I completed the NGO large game and meat hygiene course to get the trained hunter ID NO......
And this was a cheaper and better option for me to do.
But as Trickyd66 as stated he completed the extra part to gain the trained hunter no.

I did the game meat hygiene course through the ngo, this is for large and small game, on the cert you have a trained hunter number. Which enables you to certify meat fit for human consumption. I also will be doing the dsc2. If you want to do the game meat hygiene course I would highly recommend the one at Calton moor .

I was told last week by an agricultural college tutor that after April '25 the LGMH course will only last 3 years, done between now and then it will last for life.
Ive always wondered, if you have trained hunter status and put a carcass into the food chain and for some reason there is an issue with it then what are the comebacks, I've never seen it mentioned?

Makes sense for them in money spinner terms.

I doubt there's actual evidence based reasoning for this, such as an increase in contaminated carcasses in the food chain, and it'll purely be money.

Also, I'm finding it hard enough getting a course in the south east. This'll only increase the pressure on courses

I was told some months ago when i did my course there was changes coming.
I tried to warn folks about the changes .
contact Mike at wessexfieldandgame.co.uk he also does DSC1 courses
Great guy and runs these around the country good luck folks and happy new year.

Contacted him but not heard a peep after the initial contact

Yes happy new year all
So what are the options for doing GMH courses, as in who actually regognises who's qualification and who runs them on behalf of said bodies? I did dsc1 a couple of years ago but missed out on it and reading on here it looks a real PITA to get sorted, I'm in the York area.
Are there comebacks if there is an issue when a tagged carcass goes in the food chain, the world how it is today seems to like passing the blame wherever possible, I'm curious about this and never see it mentioned on here, is it purely information about the animal or do we need to find out if our insurance cover that type of thing?
Cheers

Looking for this in the midlands. No one seems to offer it anymore? Real pain as it’s something that I’d like but I do, not necessary but more experience and another box ticked!

Look at the NGO site some courses are being run by Mike you may have to travel to beat the deadline.

Mike is on 07940909250 cost is £200. cheaper than every three years

If they're going to insist on it being repeated, they really need to sort their course locations out. The most populated area of the country seems to have to travel for hours each way to get to a course

That is the part I find hard to understand why no trainers in south east.
So many shooters so can some one explain why we lack this service.
Some quoted a huge amount for coming to run a course.
I jumped at a course that some member mentioned yes i had to travel but i got my number .
Go for it
jh1986 could Glyn not run a course at Petersfield only a thought
