Many of you will, but many won't be familiar with the wonderful item that is a Scotch Pie (or shell pie). Each baker seems to have their own recipe and it's traditionally with mutton, but i was thinking about giving it a go with venison. A good recipe here

Their morning roll recipe is also pretty spot on. You could also give the bridie a go with some venison too.

Just need to go out and get some now!

IIRC tongmaster do pie kits. The gravy wasn't the best, but if you use your own they can be great. I used fallow shoulder, done in the slow cooker, with a jar of cranberry sauce in the gravy.

When I went berry picking as a youngster the highlight of the day was getting chosen to ride in the Landy to pick up the pies and bridies for morning piece.
The smell on the drive back was to die for.

Dundee born colleague told me to take one warm scotch pie and place in one buttered morning roll with a squirr of brown sauce

A jock pie roll with " browns sass" is a joy to behold

Lidls sell local Bells butchers pies .... waurs my car keys ?

Spoilt for choice up here, JG Ross do some nice ones, Chicken & Skirlie, Mince & Mealie.
Harry Gow mince n tattie pie, superb.
We've made some with 15 hour slow cooked cubed brisket which were lovely. Will definitely do some with mutton next time we have it.
World of difference between a proper pie and cheap supermarket rubbish.

Me and a mate stopped in Dumfries and decided to have scotch pie, chips and peas, at which point the man serving dipped the whole pie in batter and deep fried it, heart attack material, tasted great after the initial shock had warn off!😋
