I’d rather a poor day outside than being stuck inside. Not the best of days, first off I wasn’t even sure I’d make it there in the little van, but she did me proud, we even past a Range Rover that was stuck in the snow
It was a bit of a shame the way the weather was as there was half a dozen guests shooting with us today including a couple of rugby players who only had today that they could come, anyway we started off with a pen drive as it didn’t look good for a full day, there was a fair bit of banging on this drive even though from where I was in the line the birds seemed to be just running around and getting up in the trees, looking confused with all this white stuff
Back to the shed where we poured a bottle of bramble gin and two bottles of Prosecco down there necks, just to take the chill off you understand
Next was two drives around the forestry pen, same story, a good amount of shooting but the birds weren’t for flying, so that was it, the way the weather was it wasn’t looking good for getting off the top if we stayed, we ended on 18 pheasants, 1 woodcock and a pigeon off 3 drivesView attachment 394592View attachment 394593View attachment 394594
Yeah, it’s not good when you have to finish the day early, shame because it’s like a spring day todayGutted I had to cancel last minute mate, but might have been blessing in disguise!!

They’ll be alright, their not made of sugarBetter off cancelling tomorrow, heavy rain and wind ...no fun.
Pointless being out in those conditions, not an enjoyable day at all , I'm indoorsIt looks like it’s going to be wild up there tomorrowif we can get them birds up in that wind they should get a proper shift on
Always shoots better up there the worse the weather is, they tend to stay in the woods, the down side to having a woodland shoot is they like to bugger off if the weather is nice , as long as you have the right gear on it’s fine,Pointless being out in those conditions, not an enjoyable day at all , I'm indoors![]()

I'm not so sure mate. When it's that windy, I reckon they'll try sit tighter than ever, be a good job for beaters getting them to get up into 50mph gusts
100 percent agree if the weather is good my birds are out of wood down across fields first thing. We try dogging back in before shoot day . But as stav said if the weather is poor they stay in the woods. We had crap weather last week and our quiet wood shot really wellAlways shoots better up there the worse the weather is, they tend to stay in the woods, the down side to having a woodland shoot is they like to bugger off if the weather is nice , as long as you have the right gear on it’s fine,
